A painful discovery, Angelo's Apartment

Upon exiting the illusion barrier, Angelo found himself in the downtown area, in front of an old pawnshop. He had been to this area of town many times, but he had never seen this pawnshop before. He figured there was some trick behind it, but Jasmine's safety was more important to him. He pulled out his phone and called for a cab to pick them up. Once the cab arrived, he carefully got into the cab with the driver's assistance, holding Jasmine in his arms and gave the driver the address for his apartment complex. During their hour ride, Jasmine awoke. She slowly looked around before snuggling close to him and asked. "Where are we headed?"

Angelo held Jasmine close and smiled as he replied. "We're headed to my apartment. I figured we should check it out first before making a plan." She nodded, but he could feel a small tremble from her as she thought about that. Shortly after they arrived, Angelo paid $40.65 for their ride before making his way with her toward his apartment. However, something felt wrong. He looked to her and said. "Stay close, I'm not sure what we'll find awaiting us." She nodded as they began walking up the stairs.

They both saw his front door was ajar, but what made matters worse was the rustling sound coming from inside. Angelo and Jasmine silently crept closer to the door, but what they found upon opening it was unexpected. His apartment had been ransacked. When they entered they could see that almost everything was gone. However, upon entering his quest turned itself in.

Angelo was surprised that he had leveled up twice, but with 10 new skill points to play with. He knew exactly where to put them. He used a mental command to put them into Strength, increasing it from 35 to 45. He felt his muscles expand before tightening, causing Jasmine to gasp. She blinked before asking. "Is that normal?" He looked to her and said. "Oh, um, only when I increase my strength." He looked over to where his game consoles and tv had been. He let out a quivering breath and closed his eyes while saying. "Countless hours of gaming, gone."

Jasmine walked up behind Angelo and wrapped her arms around his waist and said. "I wish I could say things like this weren't normal. But hey, at least we still have each other, right?" He looked to her with a pitiful look upon his face and said. "Yes, but still. That was a lot of progress destroyed." She chuckled before biting her bottom lip. She leaned in to kiss the tip of his nose before saying. "Is there anything I can do to help?" He shook his head and said. "No, I just need to order some new furniture, gaming consoles, clothing, and clean this place up."

Jasmine leaned her head against Angelo's shoulder and said. "Well, when you get a new bed, handsome. Let me know. I want to be the first to enjoy it with you." He chuckled and smiled before kissing her forehead and said. "Well, I'll need to get a security system or something in place before that happens." Jasmine lifted her head up from his shoulder before saying. "Hmm, I have heard that a golem or android are very useful for defending someone's property." He looked to her and said. "I can't imagine that would be cheap or easily obtained. I mean, realistically, right?"

Jasmine ran her finger tips along his abs and chest while saying. "Not normally, but you've said that you can learn skills from books, right?" Angelo lifted a brow and said. "Right, but wouldn't a book like that be hard to obtain as well?" She shook her head before suggesting. "Why not do something weird? If you had a book to create a clay figure. Would it be too far of a stretch to make that into a golem?" She kissed his neck before whispering into his ear. "All you would need is a core of some sort. Those can be made by condensing mana and some life essence like blood into an object like a crystal ball or even a marble. I mean sure, that would be a weak core, but it would be a decent start."

Angelo couldn't believe how much of an idiot he had been. He had amazing powers and yet was still limiting himself. He had played games like D&D, WoW, LoL, and other fantastical games. Something like this should have been obvious. Honestly, given the state of things, Jasmine's suggestion made perfect sense. With this in mind, he began to think about the possibilities. Should he go to the store and buy a figurine and some marbles? Or should he buy a clay figure sculpting book and a crystal ball?
