Chapter 9
by Miss-Emmie
Runa rolls to investigate the lab
And finds more than she bargained for
[[Roll: 4]]
There was a wide range of potions on the shelves, as well as ingredients and alchemical texts, but what caught Runa's eye was a potion sitting on the lab's counter. It was clearly the most recent item Jacobs' had been working on, possibly before he went to bed just a couple hours ago. It had a distinct red coloring, identical to a healing potion.
With no sense of caution, Runa uncorked the bottle and sniffed it.
Only to discover this was not, in fact, a healing potion. She coughed as the fumes from the potion worked their way into her brain. Her mind slowed, and her mental strength dimmed notably.
Runa's quick reflexes allowed her to quickly recork the bottle. But she was still feeling a bit dizzy.
Was Hal Jacobs designing a potion that looked like a healing potion but had some sort of mental incapaciting effect? As she wondered this, Runa noticed a sheet partially covered by a list of ingredients. This seemed to be the notes on the potion. 'The coloration has finally reached a point where only a trained alchemist could discern the difference between my creation and the traditional healing potion. The effects are also progressing well, the test subjects who've tried it have had a severe drop in their mental faculties. But it seems almost too potent, one whiff alerts the consumer to the real identity of this potion. I'll have to reduce the potency a bit in order to make the smell neutral, there's little point of disguising it as a healing potion if I have to **** it down the target's throat like with the test subjects.'
"Test subjects?" Runa wondered aloud, recalling that there was a second floor to this basement.
Are the test subjects hidden on the next floor?
