Chapter 22 by Felixfalck Felixfalck

What's next?

An unexpected turn of events

Before Camila ever had the chance to commit to her throw, the boardgame lit up in red.

"Player three may not proceed until the previous turn has concluded!"

Looking around her, bewildered, she couldn't comprehend why the game had stopped her dead in her tracks.

"Did you not to it right or something, Troy?!?"

Due to his absence, Camila was **** to shout to get his attention from across the house. Not quite hearing what the ruckus was about, he could barely make out his name, and rushed back to the living room.

"What's that? I said you could continue on without me."

Looking past the fact that he didn't look remotely like his old self, Camila explained the situation to Troy. Uncertain as to what may have caused the incident, he gazed over at the boardgame, which was in the exact same state as before he'd left, bar the red glow.

"Oh, Seems like it wants me to roll the purple die."

Sure enough, right next to his miniature self there was a purple die glowing faintly.

"I thought these ones were optional?"

"No, not all of them were, apparently. The purple ones are ****. You'll have to roll twice, one to select another player and one for their change."

The sudden turn of events were enough to draw Katt's attention back towards the game. While she'd been paying attention all along, there wasn't any reason for her to involve herself directly while the others were going about their turns, that was until she could help shed some light on the rules of the game, expediating the game.

"But what happens if they have more than six changes already, there's only six sides on the die?"

"Hell if I know, it's fucking magic, the amount of sides on a die is the least of our issues."

While the **** purple die was interesting, she didn't care for Troy's questions regarding the nature of the game itself, answering in a snarky tone that was sure to shot down any further inquiries surrounding the game.

"..Right. Should probably just get this over with I suppose."

As he picked up the die in question, the red light emitted by the board subsided, reverting to the standard light-less wooden pane they were accustomed to.

"So one for player, and then one for the changes, gotcha."

Tossing the numberless die, Troy was curious as to how they would know which player was selected. As if the game could read his mind, another player lit up in bright purple as the die came to a standstill. It was Sabrina.

"Oh fucking hell, really?? Can you just please take my clothing change? The others are alright, and I don't want to get super muscular or anything, it'd look super fricking weird on me.."

"I ..don't think I have any say here, sorry.."

Troy gave an apologetic shrug with his shoulders before leaning in to pick up the purple die once more.

"This time for card. Hope this doesn't screw the both of us.."

As the die came to yet another halt, tension filled the air as the group collectively tuned their eyes to look for any changes in both Troy and Sabrina. It didn't take long for the die's effects to come into play. The change which had just affected Troy previously in his round began reverting, changing the shape of his scull, the shade of his skin and the texture of his hair all back to their original Caucasian form.

As one would expect, the opposite began happening to Sabrina, albeit in a slightly different way. Instead of turning her skin to a near black, it instead went in the direction of olive. While her skin underwent a slight change, the most apparent alteration to Sabrina was by far her face. Her face changed completely, taking on distinctly Asian features. Surprisingly, Sabrina's hair remained the same shade of orange as before, looking all the more out of place on her now very eastern Asian body.

"This is fucked! What the hell!? You literally just got that card! This is bullshit, fuck you and your damn luck, you've got no business giving me these garbage traits"

Sabrina's dominant display didn't hold up for long however, as her demeanor slowly regressed to it's former self. Any onlooker with half a brain would have realized by now that the exchanged cards in question were their most recent draws. Those being Sabrina's "dominant" card, and Troy's race-swap card.

"I'll admit, it feels good being my old self again. And don't you fucking dare get so snarky with me, you damn gook."

Sabrina's mouth hung wide open. She couldn't believe the words that'd just come out of Troy. The usually well behaved and grounded boy she'd bullied countless of times had suddenly grown a spine.

"Jeez, I'm sorry, alright? It's just ..a lot to take in."

Her previous outburst having still been under the influence of her now lost red-card, Sabrina didn't possess the same aggression to counter Troy. His body was likely overflowing with testosterone as it was, with the addition of a mental card that pushes him to be more dominant and commandeering, there was no knowing just how much of an "Alpha" he'd try to establish himself as.

"So are you two gonna keep on yapping, or am I finally allowed to get on with my turn, here?"

While she might not have received a card like Troy, Camila was as feisty as Latinas come, she didn't give two damns about his supposed position as "Alpha male" or whatever. She'd always had an issue with authority, and never once had she fallen in line. It wasn't likely that she ever would, especially for someone who's mindset was as shallow as being the result of a mind-altering gamecard.

Troy knew already that there was no point in clashing with Camila, she'd probably just get even worse if he tried. Interpreting his silence as a sort of permission, Camila went ahead and threw the die which she'd picked up before that whole debacle began.

"Anyway, as I was saying.. Something good, something good, something GOOD!"

Back with the chant of good fortune, the brunette wanted nothing more than to score a card that would stick it to Troy. Something that'd make him twice about trying to assert himself over her like he had Sabrina.
To her dismay, that wasn't the case at all. In fact, she rolled the worst possible outcome, a measly one.

"Fuck FUCKITY FUCK FUCK."
