What's next?

An introduction to therapy pets

After Jersey had explained her apprehension, Dr. Schultz smiled again. "So you would like to meet a petgirl, but knowing her owner is around makes you nervous. Well, I have just the solution for you. What you need is to be the owner."

"Me, a pet owner?" Jersey stammered. "I don't know. I wouldn't be good at it."

"Nonsense. There's nothing to be good at, as long as you're a good person any pet would be happy to be with you. Really, they can take care of themselves. The only thing a petgirl truly needs from her owner is a sense of belonging, to know that she's loved and appreciated. In turn, she'll show you that you're loved as well."

"Still. I don't think I'd be able to keep up and make a pet happy," Jersey argued.

Her therapist chuckled. "You might surprise yourself with what you can do once you're out of your shell. But I understand. Officially adopting a pet is a commitment you don't feel ready for. The good news is that you don't have to make that commitment yet. There's all sorts of ways a petgirl and a potential owner can spend time together without that. In particular, there's a pilot program going on for pets who want to aid in therapeutic sessions."

Dr. Shultz went on to explain the program, even retrieving some pamphlets from her desk drawer. "These are petgirls and petboys who aren't as focused on finding a single person to belong to, so they can satisfy their drive for companionship in another way. What we would do is set you up on a playdate, so to speak. You'd spend anything from an hour to a day together, enjoying each other's company however you want. After that, she won't be upset if you decide one visit was enough. But if you want to arrange more visits, she'd be happy to see you again."

Time to meet a petgirl?
