Griffith was part of an interstellar military armada, and he didn't exactly like it. The crew aboard his vessel—the USS Dominant—was 85% women, most of whom were well above him in rank, and all of whom were "allowed" to proposition him on the regular.

In this society, technology had advanced in many incredible ways; enough medical breakthroughs were made so that no woman ever had to become pregnant, and surgery on men's sex organs could safely add a couple ego-boosting inches. Alongside these changes, a second wave of women's sexual liberation occurred, and men had become sexualized themselves— although no more so than women were objectified in Earth's societies… except in the military. Griffith literally had state-issued lingerie.

Despite the official title of officer, his actual job aboard the vessel had been to look pretty and be at the female crews' beck and call; what few responsibilities Griffith had were unpleasant, dressing like a harlot, watching his figure, and getting his superiors off— regardless of whether he wanted to.
