Chapter 18 by fishcrem
What's next?
An early start
Will had the best sleep he'd ever had in a long time, helped by the soft be and the obvious exhaustion. It would have been a perfect if he wasn't woken up by Silenya lightly slapping his cheek before the Sun was even up.
They had trudged back to the guild when light was just starting to illuminate the stone streets of Oakshield. Will was back in his own clothes, apparently Master Shaltor had somehow dried them during the night. Silenya had her disguise back up, her hair returning to the shiny black and her skin the pale pink of a pretty young woman. She was wearing a bright blue riding dress today. Split between the legs for comfort but the neckline still plunged down showing much of her modest breasts. A simple necklace with a bright clear stone which was set simply drew the eyes of townsfolk to her bosom.
Will found himself scowling at the passing crowd, but he didn't notice that Silenya herself was chuckling to herself at his behaviour. It wasn't long before they found themselves in front of the guild and they made there way in.
Clara and April were standing at the request board, scanning for any particularly rewarding quests. Spotting them, Will made his way over to them.
"Morning ladies, fancy seeing you together already, anything interesting up there?" He winked at Clara before he started to look at the board himself.
Clara just grunted her acknowledgment of Will and gave him a flat look, obviously not appreciative of his little dig at her.
"Oh hey Will, We didn't think you'd show, you did say you were leaving first light," the blonde archer greeted him cheerfully.
"Haha, you know how it is sometimes, I was up all night. I won't go into details though, can't share any of my juicy secrets," his voice was it's usual chirpy tone but he couldn't help but glance at Silenya as he was talking. She seemed to ignore his words though.
"Oh this one looks interesting. Demons raiding villages after storms, request is to rescue an elf that was taken just a few weeks ago. If I know anything about demons I'd say that elf is beyond help at the moment. But it is interesting, demons usually keep their business pretty quite unless there's a major plot going on. What do you think Will?" Silenya's black hair swished as she flicked her head towards him.
"Oh, yeah after the storms? I'm not sure I really feel li-" his words were cut off as he read the request, especially the reward for completion. "Let's go ask the clerk about it shall we."
He grabbed the paper and ripped it from the pin holding it in place. All four of them trotted up to the guild desk and Will placed the paper in front of him on the counter.
"Oh this one? Some elf came in yesterday, said he'd been to 3 towns already asking the guilds to take this quest. There really isn't much information but apparently his daughter was adventuring through and hasn't sent anything since she went through Pinehurst a month ago. Apparently hes managed to find out that demons have been raiding villages near there for some reason and he suspects that it is related. Nobody would take the quest though so he has increased the reward for finding his daughter."
"Pinehurst? Have they attacked Pinehurst!?" Will demanded.
"We haven't heard anything about that but several villages around that including Geit's Passage and Capall have both been attacked. They managed to take several young women."
Does Will try to convince everyone to take this quest?
