You're a strapping young lad, with an athletic body. Well, athletic enough to keep yourself alive if you're ever in trouble. Which you are, because you're wandering in the woods alone, against all instinct and teachings.

Although you're sure you'll be fine. It's not like you haven't went past the tree line as a dare when you were a kid, and you've gotten firewood from the forest floor rather than pay the woodcutters in town plenty of times.

But, now that you think about it... have you ever been this far before? You can't see the village in the distance anymore, and haven't been able to for a while. And come to think of it, you could've sworn you've passed the same rotting stump a couple times by now. Is it the same one? No, the last one had a mushroom growing on it. Right? What time is it anyway? The tree canopy makes it hard to get a bearing on where the sun is, but it has to be close to mid-afternoon, maybe 3 or 4 o'clock. Even mom's gonna be a little concerned if you don't show up by nightfall. All you've got on you is your hunting knife, although that's more of a style choice than any sort of regularly utilized tool. Maybe deciding to explore a bit off the beaten path in your free time was a bad idea.

Well, nothing to do now but hope you find someone or something who's friendly enough to lead you back to town. There's stories of the odd good Samaritan monsters helping lost kids get back to their families, but you aren't exactly a kid. It would be kinda embarrassing to ask for a fairy for help here.

As you're pondering what to do next, leaves ruffle behind you. You're not fast enough to turn around to see the source of the sound, before you find yourself being knocked ass over teakettle, and hitting the forest floor with a thud as your world spins in a blur of darkness, then spiraling sights and sounds, then eventually enough sense returns for you to finally see who or what has run into you.
