An alternative plan

"I know what you're speaking of Father, but I can't do that. If I tried to take the Princess away, I'd be overwhelmed and killed, without a second's thought." You begin "And even if I did succeed, what than? I become the most wanted man in the Kingdom, and there's no reason to think that punishment would stop with me. They'd no doubt go after you and mom, revoking your title of nobility as a start."

"Well, I'm glad to see that you're using your head" Your father sat down as the conversation dragged on "I just wish you had done so before you plunged yourself in her before you were married to her."

"You mean, you'd approve of the relationship?" You ask oddly

"Of course" Your father replied, returning with a confused look "Beautiful thing like her, and madly in love with one another, what fool would I be to get in the way?"

"As big of a fool as the King." You return sharply, which gets a small chuckle

"Well put. Perhaps if I were in his shoes I would see things differently. That all aside son, what are you prepared to do, if you're not going to try and rescue her?"

"I'm going to do what I do best"

"Sleeping in till lunch is not going to save her." Your father spat back

"I'm going to talk, Father. This may all be a misunderstanding. If the King could just listen, this can all be resolved."

"You're expecting an awful lot of a man who believes you just **** his daughter."

"Than the Queen. Somebody. Anybody who will listen."

Your father sighs as he rubs his hand across his dark hair, looking at the distance for a moment.

"I won't lie to you son, that sounds incredibly dangerous. A glance at you, and you're done, and you don't exactly blend in with the rest of the crowd. Still, it's the best bad idea you have at this point. The only help I can provide is advice. You have a good head on your shoulders, use it. Don't be brave, be clever. Living through a loss today means fighting for a win tomorrow."

"I understand, and you're right of course. I just hope I'm clear minded enough to remember that in the moment."

"Me too." Your father stands again and reaches forward to give you a hug "I love you son, and I wish you the best of luck. Just in case we never see each other again, know that I have been, and always be, proud to be your father."
