What's next?
An Minetaurs Home
As they emerged on the other side, Yuki and Venetia found themselves in another corridor.
The air was heavier here, almost stifling, and the faint smell of charred wood and damp stone lingered.
Behind them, a booming roar shook the corridor, making them both flinch.
The ground quaked beneath their feet as the Minotaur **** its massive body through the passage they had just exited.
Venetia cast a quick glance over her shoulder. “It’s still coming! How is it still coming?” she cried out, panic lacing her voice.
The Minotaur finally broke free of the hole with a deafening crash, pieces of stone scattering across the ground as it landed in the corridor.
It wasted no time, its glowing red eyes locking onto the two women as it let out another guttural roar.
It charged forward, its heavy footsteps shaking the corridor as it barreled toward them, its double-bladed axe scraping sparks against the walls.
“We need to move faster!” Yuki shouted, her voice sharp with urgency. Her heart pounded in her chest as she darted forward, Venetia close behind.
As Yuki sprinted ahead, her mind racing for an escape, her eyes caught something unexpected.
A staircase, spiraling down into darkness, was partially obscured by a turn in the corridor.
It wasn’t much of a choice—nowhere else seemed to offer an escape from the Minotaur’s relentless pursuit.
“Venetia, down here!” Yuki shouted, pointing toward the stairs with urgency.
The ground trembled again as the Minotaur’s massive footsteps pounded the stone, shaking the walls around them. They didn’t have time to waste.
Venetia’s eyes flicked toward the staircase and, without hesitation, nodded. “Let’s go!” she shouted, her voice sharp and full of adrenaline.
The two women bolted toward the staircase, with the monstrous beast hot on their heels.
Roars echoed through the corridor, and the sound of its heavy axes scraping against the walls only added to the chaos.
Yuki reached the base of the staircase first, her feet pounding against the stone as she descended into the darkness.
Venetia was close behind, her hand briefly skimming the wall to steady herself as she followed.
As they descended the wide staircase, the air grew heavier, thick with the scent of dust and stale stone.
The walls were jagged, worn down by years of heavy use.
Stairs were wide enough for its massive form to traverse easily, making it clear that they were entering the creature’s domain.
Yuki’s heart pounded in her chest as they reached the bottom, her breath echoing off the stone as she glanced around.
The chamber they entered stretched wide and deep, like aj natural cavern.
The walls were rugged, smooth in places and jagged in others, they glistened faintly with moisture, the water tracing rivulets down to the pool in shallow depressions across the uneven stone floor.
Along its edges were signs of habitation—clawed-up rock where the beast had leaned or struck in moments of rage, crushed fragments of what looked like once-living wood, and the bones of prey too unfortunate to escape.
Bioluminescent moss clung to the walls along this trail, glowing faintly with a sickly green light that illuminated the path forward minotaur had shaped the space to its liking.
“This is… its home,” Yuki whispered, the realization dawning on her. Her voice carried a sense of dread as she took in the wide expanse around them.
The sound of the Minotaur’s heavy footsteps reverberated through the cavern, growing louder with every passing second.
The ground trembled beneath its weight as it closed in on their hiding spot.
Yuki’s breath caught in her throat as she exchanged a glance with Venetia, the tension in the air thickening with every step the creature took.
There was no more running, no more hiding. They were cornered.
Venetia’s mind raced, trying to think of a plan.
The labyrinth had turned from a place of mystery to a deadly trap, and now, the two of them were facing the terrifying beast that called this place home.
“We can’t outrun it,” Yuki whispered, her eyes wide with fear. “We’ll have to fight.”
Venetia nodded, her heart hammering in her chest.
“Stay close,” she murmured. “We’ll have to use everything we’ve got.”
The Minotaur’s low growl reverberated through the chamber, and then, with a deafening roar, it emerged from the shadows.
Its massive form blocked the path ahead. The air around it was thick with the smell of sweat and earth.
Its eyes locked onto the two women, narrowing with a primal hunger. The Minotaur’s double-headed axes gleamed in the dim light, ready to strike.
As the Minotaur swung its axes, the girls split, moving in opposite directions to avoid the deadly strike.
Yuki dived to the right, her heart pounding.
She grabbed several pieces of stone from the ground, her hands trembling slightly, and hurled them at the Minotaur’s eyes.
The stones struck their target, temporarily blinding the beast.
Meanwhile, Venetia rolled left, narrowly avoiding the Minotaur's furious attack. She watched the creature falter, its vision impaired and saw the perfect opportunity.
Her breath quickened as she rose to her feet, her right hand forming into a sharp, knife-like position.
"Air magic, Air Slash!" she shouted.
With a fierce thrust of her hand, a razor-sharp gust of wind shot forward, cutting through the air toward the Minotaur.
The wind blade slashed through the creature’s side, leaving a gaping wound in its thick hide.
Blood poured from the injury, but the Minotaur’s rage only grew stronger as it let out an even more deafening roar.
It spun toward the two women, shaking its head as if trying to regain focus.
The Minotaur roared in fury, its blood dripping from the wound on its side, staining the floor beneath it.
It swung its axes wildly, the sheer power behind each strike shaking the ground.
The air was thick with tension as the creature advanced, determined to crush the two women who dared to stand against it.
Yuki, still crouched low from her last move, quickly regained her footing.
Her eyes darted to the Minotaur’s swings, calculating the best way to avoid them.
With a burst of speed, she sprinted toward the creature's left flank, moving just out of the range of its right axe.
Meanwhile, Venetia, recovering from her own roll to safety, saw Yuki’s plan unfold. She knew the Minotaur was now focused on her, as it had turned its head toward her after being slashed.
"Yuki, now!" she shouted, her voice steady despite the adrenaline surging through her veins.
Yuki was already there, leaping toward the Minotaur’s back.
As it turned to face Venetia, the monster exposed a **** moment.
Yuki took her chance. She pulled a dagger from her belt, its blade sharp and glinting in the dim light of the labyrinth.
With all the speed and **** she could muster, she drove the dagger into the creature's unguarded shoulder, aiming for a joint where the beast’s movement could be slowed.
The Dagger went into the Flesh but its hide was thick, giving the Dagger not an easy time and preventing that it went deep.
The Minotaur howled in pain, thrashing violently.
It moved its body rapidly forcing Yuki to end her risky attack.
She grunted but quickly scrambled to her feet.
Venetia wasn’t idle during this chaos.
She hurled another air slash toward the Minotaur, aiming for its legs this time.
The wind sliced through the air, grazing the Minotaur’s knee and causing it to stumble slightly.
But the creature's rage was too much.
It let out a roar, the sound vibrating through the stone walls, and charged again, swinging both axes with a terrifying speed.
"Watch out!" Yuki yelled, diving out of the way as the axes came crashing down in tandem.
Venetia’s heart raced as the Minotaur’s axe swung down toward her with terrifying speed.
She could feel the air shift, the blade coming at her like a guillotine, ready to end the fight in one fatal blow. But her reflexes were faster.
She quickly planted her feet into the ground, summoning every ounce of her wind magic.
With a swift motion, she created a burst of wind beneath her feet, propelling herself backward in a perfect evasion.
The gust of air was just strong enough to carry her out of the Minotaur’s attack range, the axe slamming into the ground where she had been only a moment before.
It still managed to cut some hair from Venetia, who thought " If I was just a little slower, just one single moment. I would be dead"
The impact sent shockwaves through the ground, shaking the very walls of the labyrinth.
Dust and debris filled the air, but Venetia’s focused gaze never wavered.
Her eyes locked on the Minotaur, which was now momentarily off-balance from the missed strike.
The two women scrambled to regain their position, realizing they couldn't keep up this hit-and-run tactic for long. The Minotaur was too strong, too relentless.
Venetia’s eyes narrowed. "We need to finish this. Now."
Yuki nodded, pain etched across her face, but determination still burning in her eyes.
The three of them froze for a moment, caught in a brief standstill, the Minetaur and the Girls thinking how they should fight to win.
The air was thick with the smell of blood, earth and dirt as the Winds from Venetia had carried them around.
Suddenly a sharp, muffled sound echoed through the cave—a small explosion.
Venetia's eyes snapped upward as the noise reverberated off the walls.
High above, the ceiling split open with a faint crack, and a hole appeared.
From it, the flames crackled as they sent sparks and glowing embers spiraling into the air like fiery stars.
