Chapter 7 by Johnsmithincog

What does she have to say?

An Introduction

“I was hoping I’d eventually get blueprints to work with for a humanoid form, rather than needing to make one up… I reeeeaaally didn’t expect to be handed a cadaver… But all things considered… Not too bad, yes?”

The programmable matter woman said, gesturing down at herself. She seemed identical to the woman who had died, the secret agent from before… But you hadn’t requested her to replicate that body. Your look turned more concerned, was she doing things on her own now..?

“There‘a that look again… You need to lighten up, Doc! I’m not going evil or crazy, it’s just… You never gave me orders not to create whatever I want, right? Just relax.”

The woman requested, and you figured you could either go red alert and be at the mercy of the programmable matter and Hideki, or just keep calm and roll with the punches.

“You know I’m a doctor? I’m um… Dr. Dawson… It’s nice to meet you…”

You said, your voice a little shaky, and she pointed at your chest.

“Nametag, Dr. Dawson, says you’re a doctor… Also what kinda scientist involved with something like me wouldn’t have a PhD?”

The woman chuckled softly to herself, entertained by the thought of some random moron being given free rein to work with her.

“A-And you are..? Do you have a name?”

You asked, figuring it best that, if she wanted to play nice, you should give her the benefit of the doubt.

“I think… All things considered… I’d like to go with the name ‘Nano.’ That work for you? Short, sweet, to the point?”

She asked, and you nodded, noting it down on a paper on a clipboard you fumbled for, not taking your eyes off of her.

“So what are your intentions, Ms. Nano?”

You asked, subconsciously trying to be respectful.

“Just ‘Nano’, and if I’m being honest? All I want to do is make you proud of me.”

How do the upper echelons react?
