Chapter 21 by NeedAMedic NeedAMedic

Are the Bravos able to convince the Lizardfolk leader to make a deal with them?

An Audience with the High Council

"This must be it, I'm sure of it!" Robin declared, gesturing toward the rather large stonework in front of them. Indeed it did look rather like the sort of formal leadership building they were looking for; large stone steps carved out of the pale rock build an immense staircase up to where a series of arches set into one another marked what seemed to be the entrance to some cavernous interior space. All of the stonework in Tlanautla was of remarkable craftsmanship and very well maintained besides, but while elsewhere it seemed largely functional, here it was clear that the architects had been building with a focus on power and elegance.

"It is certainly grand" Fuu agreed. The four of them held a momentary pause. None of them wanted to wander into the wrong situation in this strange city, though with Fuu taking the lead, it wasn't too much longer before they made their way inside.

The inner space held a grand receiving chamber, open and wide. The well worn stone floor suggested that it saw quite the share of use during the daytime hours, though now that dusk was creeping along the horizon the chamber was empty save for the Bravos and a few pairs of guards pacing the area.

Fuu lead the way forward, between stony pillars straight back toward what she assumed must be the entrance toward whatever centerpiece this building was made for. A pair of guards stood at either side of the hallway. They were well armed and armored, with chest pieces made of some sort of complex interwoven fabric, with colorful pieces of metal densely intertwined. They stirred as the women approached, but after looking them over they seemed to determine that the nude and unarmed group posed no real threat and turned their attention elsewhere.

"I guess that means we're good to go." Emmaline said quietly. The three of them filed down the hallway as it narrowed. They could hear the sounds of Lizardfolk voices speaking back and forth in their sibilant tongue. The conversation seemed intense, but it fell silent as the Bravos drew closer. Finally, the hallway opened up into a yet another grand chamber.

The room was massive and well lit, with seven stony pillars jutting up into the air in a rough half circle facing the entrance the Bravos had just come through. Upon each pillar was some variety of throne, complexly carved pieces of immaculate stonework each given a distinct flare and style no doubt indicative of the status of those that sat upon them. They were occupied by seven Lizardfolk, some powerfully built warriors, some much slimmer--Fuu would have guessed nearly half were female, though it was difficult to tell without close examination. And, somewhat to her embarrassment, all seven were staring directly at their intruders with expressions ranging from curious to indignant to lustful.

What does Fuu say to the Lizardfolk Leadership?
