Amy took control

"You know, if we just go to Taco Bell in San Pedro, nobody will see us," Amy said. "We should go somewhere on the Hill so we might run into some people."

Since thousands of people lived in San Pedro, there was virtually zero chance that nobody would see them. There was a high chance, though, that nobody Amy thought important would see them.

Karen laughed. "How many places on the Hill can three people eat for twenty bucks."

"I can lend Matt more money."

He held back a sigh. "Sure, Amy. There's a pizza place on PV Drive North. Would that do?"

She kissed him. "You're so cool. That would be great."

Half an hour later, they were shown to a booth in a cozy pizza place. There were, in fact, a number of students hanging there, which gave Amy a chance to hang onto Matt's arm and make possessive noises which was sort of flattering although he really wanted to talk to Cindi before word got back that he was dating someone else.

"Why don't you sit there," Amy said to Karen. "Matt and I will sit across from you."

Karen didn't look quite as amused by this as she had before. Finally, though, she nodded and followed Amy's directions.

Matt watched his indebtedness grow as Amy ordered a salad and drink to go with her pizza while Matt and Karen just got water.

His phone buzzed and he checked... only to see he'd gotten a text from his sister who was sitting across from him. She doesn't understand what it's like not to have unlimited money. She's not doing this on purpose.

Which was probably true but it didn't mean he could afford it. If Mrs. Hartman went back on her hundred dollar offer, he was in deep trouble.

"You two really are naughty, aren't you?" she whispered.

"We always try to help each other out."

"Now that we're dating, I can handle that for you. You won't need your sister to do it any more."{endif}
