Chapter 3 by Darx00 Darx00

What's next?

Amelia.

As we strolled through the forest, I kept my eyes peeled for any sign of Amelia. After a few minutes, I finally spotted her in the distance. She was crouched down, gathering various herbs and plants that she used for her potions. As we approached her, she looked up, greeted us with a warm smile, and waving her hand.

Amelia is a pretty girl who everyone in the village adores. Her kind-hearted nature and warm personality are contagious, spreading joy and happiness wherever she goes. She has an aura of innocence that makes you want to protect her from any danger. Her long, silky black hair and piercing blue eyes are her defining features, adding to her already stunning beauty. She is a little shorter than me. Her well-proportioned body is a sight to behold, making many stare at her with their mouth wide open when she passes by. But what truly sets her apart is her gentle and tender smile, which can light up even the darkest days. It's no wonder why everyone adores her so much.

''I thought you guys wouldn't come anymore. I'm almost done collecting all the plants I needed.'' Amelia said, frowning her eyebrow and pretending to have an angry tone of voice.

''I'm sorry, it's my fault. I overslept, and Oliver had **** but to wait for me.'' I reply to her.

''I figured that was the case. Oliver is rarely late unless it's because he was waiting for you. Did you stay until late reading all night again!?'' Amelia said with the same angry tone.

It seems like I've earned a reputation for spending every night doing nothing but reading books. Not that it's a lie... When I was a child, I began to awaken the taste for books, and I have the terrible habit of staying up late at night reading, causing it to be difficult for me to wake up early in the morning.

''You must be tired after spending all morning gathering herbs. Take this. I brought you something to eat.'' Oliver said as he handed Amelia the sandwich.

''Thanks, Oliver! You saved my life!'' Amelia responded happily, seeing the food.

Amelia has taken it upon herself to learn the art of potion-making. Her potions have helped us a lot. Although they are not very powerful, considering that she's been learning from some cheap books that aren't very good, but it's the best she can get in this place so far from everything.

Her desire to help us improve is unwavering, and we are grateful for her efforts. For that reason, Oliver and I help Amelia collect the ingredients she uses for potions whenever we can. It's the least we can do. What sets Amelia apart from us is her burning desire to become an adventurer. Of the three, Amelia is the one with the strongest desire to be an adventurer by far.

''Is there something else you need, Amelia?'' I asked.

''I haven't managed to collect enough Obroil.''

''Obroil?'' Oliver asked.

''It is the flower with pink petals,'' I responded.

''I'm impressed that you remember Darx,'' Amelia says with a face that reflects amazement.

"I had to have learned something after so long."

''Tha's true! Well, let's split up to clear more ground and find those plants faster.'' Amelia said, "Whoever finds more wins!"

"Ah? Are we going to compete again?" I asked, discouraged and without much energy.

"Of course! It's more fun that way!" Amelia responded with a big smile.

"I just don't want to be last place again!" Oliver said as he started running on his own.

Soon after, Amelia also started running on her own. ...I suppose I have ****.

After an hour of searching, I could only find two of those flowers. It's amazing how difficult they were to find, and it made me appreciate the effort Amelia puts in every day. I couldn't imagine doing this on a regular basis.

And while I was lost in my thoughts...

''Buuu!!!''

I feel Amelia hugging me from behind in an attempt to scare me.

Maybe because Amelia and I spend a lot of time together because our houses are next to each other; Amelia is very affectionate with me and doesn't hesitate to show her affection, even in public. It's not so bad right now because there is nobody around, but when she does it in the middle of the village, I can feel the hateful glares of the men.

''Did I surprise you?'' Amelia asked with a big smile.

''Not really...''

What surprises me right now is the feeling on my back. I can feel her breasts pressing against me. Perhaps they grew more!?

''How many did you find, Darx?''

''Only two.''

''Yey!! I won!! I have four.'' Amelia said happily.

Although Amelia doesn't seem like it, she is quite competitive and hates losing.

''I'm amazed at how much energy you have left after having been walking in the woods all-day.'' I said, surprised.

''Well, I'm young. What I would say is more surprising is that you, being even younger than me, always look like you are tired." Amelia responded, "We will start again with our training in the forest tomorrow, so you must rest well tonight, Darx.''

The training that Amelia, Olive, and I have, has changed over the years. It all started when Oliver and I were once rescued when we were younger, and we got lost in the woods by an adventurer Dark Elf woman who was passing by the village. We were so impressed with what she did that we decided to be adventurers from that day on. It all started as a game. Oliver and I began to play with pieces of wood that we pretended were swords, and we fought as a game and called that training. Since Amelia was always with us, to be included, she pretended to heal us, and that was the case for a while until we grew up a bit and started taking things more seriously.

In a natural way, each of us took on a role that suited our characteristics.

Oliver having a more robust body and being the one with the most strength of the 3, decided to start using an old shield that his mother gave him and a mallet and act as our tank in front of the group. Amelia began reading books about magic, and it was something that really fascinated her as she became obsessed with being a healer. Not being an adventurer, what she can do with magic is quite limited, but thanks to her efforts and studies, she has managed to learn a bit of healing and support magic. For my part, I assumed the remaining position of dealing as much damage as possible while Oliver distracted the enemies and Amelia supported us behind. Me being quite fast, it was something that fit me well.

This is how we have been managing each other, although there are days in which we cannot train together since Oliver or I are busy helping at our homes.

As I was conversing with Amelia, I suddenly realized that the sun was setting. It dawned on me that we were in the midst of the season when daylight hours were limited. The days are shorter, and the nights are longer, making it feel like time is moving at a faster pace.

''Do you have enough materials, Amelia? Soon it will be nightfall. We should meet Oliver and leave the forest.'' I said.

''I have enough!''

"Le's go find him then."

As we walk in Oliver's direction, I can't help but think how wonderful these moments are. These moments of simplicity and ease are what I like the most. The three of us just enjoying each other's company striving to become adventurers every day without much worry. I hope that even when we become adventurers, we can continue to be as we are now.

''I'm going to surprise you tomorrow, Darx!'' Amelia suddenly said.

''Ehh!?''

''My healing magic has improved a little. I've been working hard on my mana reserve, so I hope my class granted by the ritual is related to magic.'' Amelia continued.

To be an adventurer, once a person reaches the age to receive the awakening, they must go to the capital, where the ceremony for aspiring adventurers is held. A class and rank are granted by the goddess [Imris]. One has no control over the class or rank one will receive in the ritual. It is said that the goddess [Imris] gives the class and rank that one is meant to have. Thus the class where one will perform best.

My mother told me that even if one has trained all his life in a combat style, it is very likely that in the ritual, that person will receive a class that has nothing to do with what they have trained. Many aspiring adventurers are disappointed not to receive the class they used to train, but if they want to be in business, there is no other option but to start again with their new skills.

And even more critical is the rank. A high rank can give you a life of luxury; however, a life of difficulties awaits you if you receive a low rank. Once a rank is awarded, it is almost impossible to improve it. For this reason, many low-level adventurers leave the dream of being an adventurer and decide to dedicate themselves to something else.

After a while, we found Oliver. Surely talking with Amelia makes time go faster.

''Hey, Oliver, are you ready to go?'' I asked.

''I am ready! And guess what. I found eight flowers!''

Amelia and I yelled, "Wow," at the same time.

"I guess Oliver won, haha!" I said.

"I will accept my defeat...''Amelia said with a big sigh, "Thanks to you, Oliver, I will be able to create more potions than I had in mind.''

"Yey, I won!" Oliver screamed.

It's the first time Oliver has beaten us in a long time.

''Hey, It's time to go.''

The forest at night is dangerous.
