Amanda brushed tears from her eyes and stopped walking. There was a chill in the air and the light was fading quickly from the sky. It was that somber twilight period just before the shadows of night swallowed the world. Sadness crept into Amanda's heart, making her feel sick.

Bethany was her best friend at college. Possibly her best friend ever. Hell, she was more like a sister at this point. Amanda hated the thought of fighting with her closest friend.

Perhaps she was taking advantage of Bethany. She had been asking a lot of the girl. The problem was that Amanda just didn't know what to do in these situations. She was petrified of being alone with Bradley. What if she made the wrong move?

No, she had pushed Bethany to her limit. Bethany had made it clear. The sting of the girl's words still smarted against Amanda's heart.

For a moment, Amanda considered turning back. She would apologize and swear to be better. Bethany would begrudgingly accept her apology. They would order pizza and watch Supernatural all night. Amanda would crawl back into her safe corner and never branch out again. She would watch Bradley slip away to another girl, and...
