Almost too quiet

Travel becomes routine, and the days pass quickly. With everyone getting along so well, it’s almost a vacation feeling. Surprisingly, nighttime shenanigans are kept to a minimum, although most nights at least one of the girls insists that it’s her turn to share your tent. Even so, they all keep it fairly low key, saving energy for the travel.

Despite all this, you can’t shake the feeling that this has all been way too easy. Admittedly you had a huge stroke of luck with your escape, with Kaeli turning out to be an ally, but it still feels like you got away too easily. And you’re not alone in those feelings, both Melora and Victor share your reservations.

Melora spends time each day using her powers to figure out what the Order is doing about your escape, but it seems like you’re simply being ignored. If anything, this only makes you more suspicious, considering how hard they tried to capture you in the first place. The only thing Melora can see is that there’s definitely something happening in the bowels of the palace, but the Great One’s power prevents her from seeing anything more.

Still, you haven’t run into any trouble. To the contrary, the small villages you pass through seem sympathetic to your cause, although they are unwilling to risk helping you very much. The prevailing attitude seems to be ‘the Order is awful, but there’s not much we can do about it’, which is fair. You know that you can’t expect an uprising when all the power is in the Order’s hands. It simply clarifies to you that you need to change the balance of power if the resistance is to have any hope of success.

After a week of travel, your group spots your next destination. A town almost big enough to called a city, and certainly big enough for a permanent Order presence. While you doubt they will be specifically on the lookout for you, keeping a low profile will be ideal. As such, you break into two groups, With Victor, Melora, and Cassie in one group, and Ferra, Alex, and Sarah with you. You agree to meet up at an inn that Victor recommends, arriving separately to avoid suspicion.
