Alien encounter

The robot leads Mike down a hallway, seemingly ignoring anything he says. It’s well lit, clean and quiet, but there doesn’t seem to be anyone else here. There’s also no windows, and no indication of what sort of place this is. Finally, they arrive at a doorway which stands open. The robot stands to the side and gestures inside. “Please enter and sit. You will be attended to shortly.”

Left without much choice, Mike walks into the room, which is a simple affair with a table and two chairs. Seeing nothing particularly threatening, he takes a seat, making sure to face the door. The robot walks away, leaving the door open.

Nothing about this seems hostile, which is a relief, but Mike touches the sore spot behind his ear to remind himself that he should be wary. After all, they did attack him and bring him here! As he waits, he wonders what sort of creature will be ‘interviewing’ him. When he was taken, all he saw was a shadow.

He hears footsteps growing closer in the hall, much lighter than the metallic clunking of the robot, and he tenses in anticipation. What should he expect? Tentacles? Fangs and claws? Imagined horrors race through his mind.

And then a figure walks through the doorway, and Mike is stunned into silence, staring at the alien.

It hardly looks alien at all, strange ears, blue skin, red eyes and pink hair, but otherwise, it looks like a woman. And a rather attractive one at that. It smiles at him with seeming kindness, and sits down in the chair opposite him.

“Hello. I apologize for the circumstances of your arrival here, but we had to collect you before you got hurt or worse. My name is Alicia, and I am to be your liaison on our world. Welcome to Coritha, by the way.”

Mike blinks, surprised. “I…I can understand you. How are you so humanlike? Where am I? What…”

Alicia holds up a delicate hand, still smiling. “I know there’s a lot to explain. We detected the energy of your arrival and a team was sent to collect you. We rendered you **** for everyone’s protection, and transported you here. As I said, I am your liaison, chosen because I strongly resemble your race. There are several intelligent races on our planet, but we have been observing your planet for quite some time.”

The alien gestures towards his head. “We implanted a universal translator in your ear, which makes it so that we can communicate. I apologize for the intrusion, but this would be impossible otherwise. Now, I’m sure you have many questions, but these things will take time. For now, I am to be your guide, and help you fit in here. I’m sure you’ll be fine once you adjust.”

Mike shakes his head. “This…isn’t really what I expected, honestly. You look…well, you look like an attractive woman for the most part, which is odd. I expected different.”

Alicia laughs, a surprisingly lovely sound. “Well, I thank you for the compliment, actually! I am female, and the genders here are as obvious as you’re used to. There is much speculation that our planets were seeded in a similar manner, since there’s many similarities. However, there are definitely others that look less…human, as you put it.”

She smiles. “I imagine you’ll attract a lot of attention, as a new arrival from a distant planet. But for now, let me show you to your quarters, we can answer your questions there while you relax.”

She stands, and Mike does as well. As she leads him out of the room, he can’t help but be amazed by the situation. It feels almost too good to be true.
