Alexis is in denial

"I'm not a boy!" Alexis declared again, growing angry.

Everyone was condescending or outright ignoring her. She hated being treated like this! It was her main issue with Donna and her bitchy friends. They thought they were so above Alexis, just because they were a few years older, and all read giant novels all the time. They made her feel small, a feeling Alexi loathed. Even worse, they were acting like they actually thought she was a boy! That was impossible... right?

Alexis looked down. Okay, her clothes were really childish, and clearly for a boy. They also did nothing for her figure, neither did her lack of padded bra. And yes, she'd gotten that stupid, way too short haircut, and had no makeup on. But, that didn't really make her look like a boy... did it?

"I'm sorry if he's bothering you." Jasmine addressed Donna and her friends "I don't want him disrupting your book club."

"Not at all!" Donna said. "In fact, we already discussed the book, and were thinking of having some cocktails by the pool. Would you two care to join us?"
