I grabbed Emma's hand, pulling her behind me.
"Evan, what the hells?"
"It's writing! The man is a writer. We need to go to the library!"
I laughed like a maniac while I tore through the house with her in tow. In hindsight, it was obvious.
"The library" wasn't much of a library, more like a small, dusty bedroom containing some chairs and bookshelves.
We rushed through the door, finding a book sitting on the floor. Emma tore the front page open, almost tearing the book in her haste.
"It's got another clue!"
As I said in the beginning, so I say again. Most things end where they begin.
We looked at each other quizzically, then Emma's eyes went wide.
"Oh my gods, Evan, this all started in his room."
I hurriedly checked my watch.
"We only have 3 minutes!"
We sprinted across the house, sliding to a stop in from of Forester's door. Another riddle, with so little time, too.
The finish line is within your grasp. All that's left is a test of strength.
"What? Does he expect us to kick it down?!"
"Oh move over, Evan."
Emma thrust her hand towards the door, grunting in effort. After a moment of nothing, the door exploded forwards into the room. Wood dust floated through the air, and splinters of oak were imbedded in the wall.
"Great Merlin! What the hells?"
Forester, along with the other four, stared at us in shock. Emma looked up at him in panic.
"Were we not supposed to do that?"
"NO! Of course not. The door was enchanted to be hard to open, not easy to explode. Emma, for real, you need a therapist."
Emma opened to her to respond, but then Forester's watch started loudly beeping. The eccentric mage held up a finger to silence Emma's response.
We all watched him for a moment with bated breath and confused expressions.
"I'm sorry, apprentices, but I'm afraid none of you will be here next year..."
He looked up at us with a somber expression, before it have way to a goofy grin.
"...because you all passed!"
The sound of relief of like the roar of a professional Psyball stadium. There were sighs of relief from Jake and Mika, whoops of celebration from Emma and Durak. As for Lexi, well, she chose instead to leap at me, wrapping her arms around me and pulling me into a kiss.
"We did it!"
Our hug quickly grew into a large group hug. Forester smiled warmly at us.
"We're Gonna Join The Guild!"
We chanted that over and over until finally, Forester shooed us out. There was a stack of pizza boxes, a few bottles of Elytria wine waiting for us on the table.
The night quickly devolved into a rowdy celebration, complete with boisterous yelling, teasing, gossip, and a concerning amount of junk food being eaten. I'm also fairly sure Emma kissed me, but with at least 2 glasses of that fancy elvish wine in my system, I can't really remember.
I woke up the next morning on the couch, with Lexi laying on top of me. She was drooling onto my shirt, and her morning wood was pressing into my inner thigh. At least 2 of us we're up.
My hand slid beneath and around her, squeezing her delectable ass
I smiled to myself. I had a super hot, rather well endowed, half-elf in my arms, the power of a demon behind me, and I was about to fulfill my dream of joining the Guild.
All things considered, I was doing pretty well.
