Adventure Awaits!

"Hey there, sunshine!" Vesper shouted at the sunrise that morning. "I got good and fucked last night! Hope you're doing just as great!"

Her mistress was a little less happy.

"I don't want to hear it, Brim," Tally told the spirit curtly.

"Moi?" said Brim with highly inappropriate glee. "Why would I ever say anything about you trying to hide your old sex life from me? Your kinky, extensive, downright illustrious sex life. The one you don't like talking about in public because it clashes with your carefully cultivated image of a heroic, squeaky-clean knight. How could I ever find anything to say about that? Do you really think I'm that shallow?"

"Yes."

Brim smiled innocently. "Good, I've got a rep to maintain here."

"Misst-I mean, Tally," Vesper caught herself as she landed on the ground. "Who are you talking to?"

Tally mentally ran through a couple wildly implausible lies before she picked the most painful option. "OK, I'm just going to go ahead and rip off this band-aid," she said with some trepidation. "There's an invisible naked ghost traveling with us that only I can see and hear. Her name's Brim, she lives in my head, and she's the reason I can do the magic hand thing." She gestured at the seemingly empty air. "Vesper, this is Brim. Brim, this is Vesper."

"Hello Vesper!" Brim waved at a girl who couldn't see her.

"Brim says hi," said Tally.

Vesper thought about it for a second. "...yeah, that makes sense."

"Look, just because I hit my head a week ago doesn't mean I'm crazy-" Tally said as she fired up her defense, only to realize it wasn't needed. "Wait, you believe me?"

"Well yeah, I know you wouldn't lie to me," said Vesper. "And that's not even the weirdest thing I've learned in the last twenty-four hours. For example! Did you know that a group of crows is called a ****?"

Vesper stood hands on her hips, grinning with pride at that little factoid. However, while the Bee-Girl wasn't stupid, she wasn't exactly used to being smart either. So when another train of thought arrived at the station with some related information, she suddenly got very, very scared.

"Oh no," she said with a quiet horror. "Tally! A **** is what happens when you kill someone."

"...Yes. Yes it is. Good Vesper. **** is wrong." Tally pat the Bee-Girl's head, then turned her attention to the papers in her pocket. Back at Brookhaven, she'd taken care to write down a couple of the more interesting Monster Girl sightings.

"OK," she said as she squinted through her rough handwriting. "Let's figure out where we're going next."
