About fun and magic.

The reconstruction of the well was coming along. Will mixed the cement, sand and water with a hand shovel. He spread the mix on top of the stone and Azazel laid another stone on top. They’d fallen into a rhythm.

“So… You’re not happy with your position?” Will asked Azazel.

The incubus flinched. “T-That’s not what I meant, my lord.”

“Then let me ask you this. If you had no responsibility to your tribe, what would you like to do?”

“...” Azazel raised his head and looked towards the sky with a nostalgic smile. “When I was a child, I dreamt of becoming a wanderer. I wanted to see the world, meet different women, hone my spearmanship and my sexual magic…” He shook his head. “Turns out the world is far harsher than I imagined. Even if I could go wherever I wanted, I doubt I could survive. No, my place is here, with my people. The rebuilding of our tribe is my priority right now.” He looked down into the well and smiled. “The crystal you gave us… We asked you for water, and you gave us an infinite source of it. What kind of man would I be if I put my selfish desires before the wellbeing of my tribe, especially when you’ve given us so much already.”

Will gave the tribe the aether crystal he’d found before. Turns out that one of the succubi was skilled enough in evocation magic. With the abundant energy in the crystal, she was able to cast a spell on it that transformed the aether into water. The crystal was at the bottom of the well, slowly but surely creating water every day.

Will sighed. “If you keep thinking like that, you’ll drag yourself into the ground. Being responsible and earnest is a good thing, but you won’t help anyone if you work yourself to ****. Everyone needs leisure time every once in a while.”

“That’s what we keep telling him, Lord William,” Xal said. “But he won’t listen.”

“What do you do for fun in your world, Lord William?” Inoran asked. His question seemed to draw Azazel’s curiosity as well.

“What I do for fun? Hmm… Hang out with my girlfriends and go on dates, I suppose. We eat at different restaurants, watch movies, go for walks…” Will smiled. “My own responsibilities are piling up, so I appreciate those moments of peace more and more these days.” Will chuckled. “I’ve also been enjoying my combat and magic training, but don’t tell that to Aoi or she’ll double it.”

“Ah, that’s right.” Azazel nodded. “You said you started developing your powers recently.”

“Yes. Ishtar is already skilled, but I’m only just getting started. Combat training is fun, but magic training is something I look forward to even more. There are things magic will let me achieve, so I want to learn more.”

Xal grinned. “I’m sure you like to try all sorts of things with your harem, don’t you, my lord?”

Will chuckled. “Not ALL sorts of things, but yeah, I admit it. I want to learn more about sexual magic.”

“Um… Lord William?” Inoran spoke. “Having sex in public in your world is frowned upon, right?”

“Hm? Well, yeah. Is it not like that in yours?”

All three incubi frowned.

“Isn’t that inconvenient?” Xal asked.

“I… guess? I admit that there are times when I wish I could just do it wherever, but… Are you saying that’s normal in this world?”

“In succubi and incubi societies, at least, yes,” Xal said.

Azazel stroked his chin. “My lord, you are already familiar with the Territory Creation spell, are you not?”

Will nodded. Territory Creation was the formal name of the spell to create barriers like the one that surrounded the apartment building. That one involved several sigils around the territory one wished to mark as theirs.

“But are you aware of the Temporary Territory spell?” Azazel asked.

Will blinked. “I’m not. What is that?”

“It’s a high level spell,” Inoran said. “I’ve heard it was originally created for combat. Supposedly, one creates a temporary area around the caster where their imposed spell takes effect.”

“Supposedly?” Will asked.

Inoran smiled sheepishly. “I’ve never seen anyone use it.”

An area where a specific spell takes effect… “Under what school would that fall?”

“Any,” Azazel answered. “Let’s say, for example, that Ori, our specialist on water evocation magic, were to create a Temporary Territory. She could, in theory, create and maintain an entire sphere of water around herself, even on land. On the other hand, and this is where I was going with my question, if you, my lord, were to create a Temporary Territory with an enchantment spell that made people ‘ignore sexual acts’, then…”

Will’s eyes went wide. “Anytime, anywhere…”

‘Will! I want it! I want it, I want it, I want it!’

‘Alright, calm down. I don’t listen to children throwing tantrums.’

Xal nodded excitedly. “And Temporary Territory spells don’t need sigils. But that’s also what makes them so difficult.”

“But if it’s you and Lady Ishtar, I’m sure you’d be able to do it,” Azazel said.

‘They can bet their sweet asses we’ll be able to do it! Man, being able to do it anywhere sounds so fun! You wouldn’t even need to hide in a restroom!’

“Alright, that does sound interesting. Do any of you have a clue to share about how to cast that spell?”

The three incubi looked at each other, but none of them had any tips to share.

“The most I’ve heard,” Azazel said, “is that it’s supposedly easier when one’s aether is already attuned to a particular type of magic.”

“So in our case… sexual magic,” Will concluded with a nod. “Well, it wouldn’t be the first time we have to figure out a spell on our own. We’ll manage.”

‘Hey, Will. While we’re on the subject. Ask them if they know anything about creating artificial bodies.’

Ah. Right. Will voiced Ishtar’s question, but the three incubi knew even less about artificial bodies than Temporary Territories.

“I’m sorry we can’t be of more help,” Azazel said. “We’ll keep an eye out for anything related.”

“Thanks.”

‘Well, it was worth a shot. I’ll keep myself busy brainstorming how to make a Normalized Sex Zone.’

Will worked with the incubi until they fixed the well. Hopefully it would hold this time. Then, after he finished hearing Azazel’s weekly report, he went back home.
