A test tube

You fall down into something cold. You somehow had control over the collection of sperm and fluids that used to be your body. You could also feel but not see or hear, you could feel glass. Moving around you determine that you are in a test tube. Counter to the nickname a "test-tube baby" is not made in a test tube. You were just trapped in her with no purpose. There you stayed until the sperm that made up your body died. You found yourself floating upwards but hitting something hard and rubbery. What you now identify as your soul was trapped inside this test tube with a rubber bung. With a bit of time, you found you regained your sight and hearing. You were in your mother's lab, you looked like yourself but as a glowing blue form. Your mother checks in on you from time to time and makes notes. What is her purpose her? Why wont she let you move on?
