A strange woman on the street

You can't seem to study people through video or livestreams, you just summon another laptop. You will need to go outside.

You don't have a disguise for the wand yet, so you put it in your gym duffel bag.

There are a lot of college students and recent college graduates in your apartment complex. You don't need long to find a cute 20-something jogging around the area, taking advantage of the cool evening air.

Unfortunately for you, it's not that easy to memorize her. First you have to set yourself up to be within arm's length as she passes, but she gets creeped out by your stare and sprints past in fear. It likely didn't help that you had your hand hidden ominously in your gym bag.

You move to another area, worried she'll call the police if she sees you again. You could feel a connection but it didn't finish forming.

Wait--this is stupid.

You do the obvious thing and walk to a nearby grocery store. You "browse" for a minute and memorize a couple of snack options. Soon enough, there are some people in line to pay.

You memorize an average-looking white blonde. You can feel some sensations but not clearly read her thoughts. She's bored, she's thinking about shopping, and that's about all.

It's more than nothing.

And you feel like it worked.
