Chapter 4
by Kobe
What happens?
A snowstorm blows in.
Zoey was right. The snowstorm began at 9; heavy little flakes of snow began to fall. Luckily the ground was still a bit too warm and the snow didn't stick -- but at around 2, it began to pile up. At 3, there was an easy five inches of snow on the ground. At 5, one hour before Tyler's 10 hour shift was over, a foot of snow blanketed the ground.
Tyler set the final book into the shelf. One whole half of all of the books had officially been labeled. He sighed, taking in his hard work.
Zoey was not as focused on the books as Tyler was. Instead, she was focused on the heavy snowfall. She peered out the window.
"I don't think looking is exactly going to stop it from happening."
She sighed. "I know. I just had hoped that Tom wasn't right and I could make it home."
He came over and stood next to her.
He had never noticed until now that she smelled pleasantly like apples and cinnamon.
"Yeah, by the looks of it, I might be camped out here, too."
"Bet you wish you had a blanket, huh?" She teased.
"Last I checked, your blanket was out in your car."
She sighed. "Yeah, I wish I had a blanket, too."
The phone to the bookstore rang. Tyler went over to their desk and answered.

Hello?
...Yeah, Tyler? It's me, Ethan. Um, I'm guessing you're still at the bookstore?
I am, sir.
...Good. Well, uh, it's bad out, if you couldn't tell. If you need to stay over, I completely understand. Luckily for you, back in the 50s this place used to be one of those two story things, where you lived upstairs and then worked downstairs. Of course we don't do that anymore, but on the top floor past my office, there should be a main room. In that room, I was refurbishing it to be some type of break room for you guys. There should be a couch, a space heater, a microwave, a little mini fridge, and a TV. Feel free to stay the night. I don't have any blankets or much, but I don't want you driving out there, okay?
I understand.
...Great. I stocked the fridge with some various things, but don't expect some sort of full course meal. Make sure to lock up.

He turned to Zoey, who was looking at him. "Okay, so good news." He set the phone down. "Looks like you won't freeze to **** outside. You know the upstairs rooms, right?"
She nodded.
"Well, apparently Ethan had been renovating just a little. It's now some type of break room, complete with a couch." He gave her some finger guns.
"Oh boy, a couch?" She said fake-enthusiastically. "What else--a microwave?"
He laughed a little. "Actually, yeah." He gestured upstairs. "I guess I'll show you where it all is."
He unlocked the door heading upstairs and they then made their way past Ethan's office into a dark room.
"Um...is this it?" She asked.
He flicked on a light.
"So much for really renovating much of anything, Ethan." Tyler scoffed. Rolling his eyes, he took a good, long look at the room.
The room was large, sure, and must have been the family room in another point in time. Boxes of books were stacked into one corner, with most boxes labeled "Overstocked". On another corner was a relatively large couch that seemed to have been an old couch that Ethan wanted to replace (luckily, it was still in pretty good shape). Other than that, a small fridge was plugged into the wall, and on top of it was a very outdated microwave. And on top of all of that was a thick layer of dust.
"Yeesh." Zoey said, running her foot along the floor and picking up a considerable amount of dust with it.
"Well, um." Tyler said. "It looks like shit."
"Took the words right out of my mouth." She replied.
"I would hope I did, considering you're supposed to be me." He chuckled.
"We can continue to roleplay Freaky Friday another time," she said, "right now, this room gives me the fucking creeps."
He raised an eyebrow. "Freaky Friday is about a mom and daughter...have you ever seen that movie?"
She waved him off. "Shut up, Zoey." She said in a mockingly deep voice. "You have no appreciation for the classics."
He rolled his eyes. "Well...I guess we could clean it up a little. And apparently there was supposed to be a TV in here, so maybe we can find that in the cluttered pile of boxes and shit in the corner, too."
"Why would I need a TV?"
"You? I need a TV." He replied.
"Are you staying here?" She asked. He noted a twinge of excitement in her voice.
"No, I'm going to leave and slide into a ditch and freeze to ****."
She punched his arm playfully. "Don't say that."
"Yes, you nut, I'm staying here, too. Now go grab the broom from downstairs while I try and see if I can't find the TV."
She gave him a salute. "Yessir!" she said cheerfully.
Cleaning Montage!
