A simple dinner chat.

Kendal then motioned for his servants to bring them the dinner. It was a full meal with much fruit, meat and bread. Liandra was surprised how well people here could eat, seeing they lived in continuous darkness.

?How has your day been, your highness?? Kendra asked.

?Some good things, some bad things. The usual.? Kendal answered.

?Not too bad I hope.?

Kendal turned his head down. ?I?m afraid it was.?

Liandra was worried. Did Prince Mortimer attack Nocternia?

?My aunt was able to capture me again.? Kendal then said.

Liandra breathed a sigh of relief. It was not as bad as she thought.

?I swear, that woman has the ears of a bat and the nose of a bloodhound.? Kendal commented.

Liandra hid her face but couldn?t suppress a giggle.

?I am so sorry, your highness.? The princess said.

?Don?t be.? The emperor told her. ?You have a cute giggle.?

That made Liandra giggle again.

?Which potential bride did she have for you this time?? Kendra asked him.

?Some Luxian girl. Gwen I believe her name was. Pretty girl, rather artistic too. But I quickly realized she felt ****. So I let her know I had no intention of forcing her into anything.?

?How did she take it?? The princess inquired.

?I don?t know, I left then.?

Liandra knew a Gwen from the Luxian court. The Gwen she knew was one that didn?t like being dumped. If They were talking about the same Gwen, then Kendal might just have given her a reason to stay and try to win over his heart.

?I hope you don?t mind me asking,? Liandra said. ?But what were you writing about on those parchments.?

?Something of a magical nature. A Luxian like yourself probably wouldn?t agree with it.?

Liandra smiled and told him ?Try me.?

?Well.? Kendal said. ?I was wondering about a way to help people who had lost a limb.?

?That is an amazing idea.? Liandra told him.

?While I was thinking about this, I walked past a painting of a necromancer who was summoning skeletons. So I wondered, why not put animated skeleton legs on a man who has lost his legs. So, I tried to calculate how it would be possible to merge necromancy with blood magic. Both of which being magics that are forbidden in Luxius.?

?Ow, I see.? Liandra said. ?Still, if it works, people would be able to walk again.?

Kendal thought a bit on what Liandra said. ?Last time I talked with a Luxian he didn?t event try to see anything positive coming from it. You are different Liandra.?

Liandra didn?t know what to say. She did blush however.

Liandra turned to Kendra, but she had fallen asleep in her chair.

?Oh my,? Kendal said. ?I hope it isn?t because we were so boring.?

Liandra giggled again. ?No, she said she had an hard day. She must be exhausted.?

?The poor woman. Lets put her in my bed.?

Kendal and Liandra gently took Kendra from her seat and placed her on the emperors bed. She slept like a rose. Now Liandra was alone with the Nocternian emperor
