A short journey

As your group emerges from the dwarven city into the morning sun, you realize that this is your first time leaving the city since your first arrival. The guards at the gate give your group a nod, and Helja leads the way as you begin your trek. You walk between Naia and Marin, both of them happy to be outside. Naia in particular seems excited, between the prospect of skinny dipping, the journey out of the city, and whatever else they all have planned.

Hayley smiles, walking slightly ahead of you. “It’s not that far, but it’s nice to get out sometimes. It’s easy to forget what it’s like after being in essentially a cave for so long.”

You nod. “I like this, even if the city barely feels like inside, it’s nice being out.”

Everyone agrees, as your path takes you through some woods. You’re thankful for the shade, as it’s already rather warm. The swim sounds better and better as you walk. Before long, you begin to hear the sound of waves.

Helja smiles. “Almost there! There’s a cove protected by rocks, it’s perfect!”

As you emerge from the woods, you can see the ocean. You hope Helja is right, because while what you’re seeing is very picturesque, it doesn’t seem great for swimming. A rocky shore with crashing waves, even with the pleasant sun it didn’t seem like a place to hang out. Helja gestures off to the north, however, and you can see a rocky outcrop that extends out into the water.

It takes a little climbing, but soon you cross over the top, and it feels like walking into another world again. Golden sand, soft waves, and even a few trees for shade along the edge of the sand.

Naia cheers, hopping down the rocks and onto the sand. “C’mon! It’s beach party time!”
