A roadblock before the next chamber.

As Ai and Eveline continued marching onward through the marble colored, organic tunnel. This path was different from the rest of the tower, there was no side chambers, no alternate routes, just one long tunnel it seemed. They did try to stay relatively quiet, but they were wandering for about 15 minutes before they finally got into a discussion about what they were doing.

"...We could have just tried to leave this place, you know." Eve said.

"....We are so high up right now, there's more between us and the ground floor, then there is between us and the top." Ai said in response. "...I've seen what the Matriarch's are capable of Eve. If they went all out, they could have dealt with me ages ago. And trust me, by now, the rest of your squad? They've been well fucked by that former captain of yours, so it's a smart thing that you left when you did, because she wasn't ever gonna help you just leave."

"...What happened to her...really?" Eve asked.

"I don't know, but the Matriarchs have a simple priority list. They take care of themselves, then their handmaidens, then the Tower. In that order...." Ai responded, before stopping cold in her tracks, looking forward.

In the distance was one of the Writhing Masses, a black ball of tentacles that was about as large as a bear, and it seemed like this time there was no sneaking past this creature.

"...Just saying, we could leave this place." Eve said.

"...It should be worth investigating, if it's this well defended." Ai said.

"...And if we get fucked on the way there, it's worth nothing but a lifetime of monster sex, and I'm not really into that thank you very much." Eve replied.
