A question needs answering

As they kissed, Zack’s mind began to wander. He had known the girl in his arms was prone to playing games and he didn’t want to be another notch in her bedpost. However, the people closest to him had noticed how the girl apparently felt about him, but still he was conflicted. And Heather picked up on it as soon as she felt him withdraw from her embrace.

“Wha...What’s wrong Zack?” the cheer captain asked in a panic.

“What’s happening between us, Heather?” Zack asked.

“We’re kissing?” Heather puzzled.

“I know that, but why? Why me?”

“Be…because,” the brunette stammered.

“Because why, Heather?”

“Because you’re…you!” she confessed.

“Huh?” Zack was clueless.

“I can’t remember when it happened, Zack, but at some point I fell for you. I’ve wanted you for a while now. Please don’t be upset, but I planned this whole trip around hooking up with you,” she said, trying not to sound too ****. “Only a few people knew how I felt about you, and they all told me that you were too good for me and that I’d never even get a guy like you, let alone you. And when you and Vicky got together, I was devastated.”

“Um…” Zack was at a loss for words.

“But then Kendra **** herself on you and Vicky foolishly ended it. And I hate to say it, but for a moment, I was happy. But only because I knew I still had a shot at getting the guy I want. Granted, I may have been a bit harsh with Vicky, but it was for her own good. She needed to hear what I had to say. Besides, she’s got Dustin back in her life. Which means I finally get you. And I’m going to give you everything you’ve ever wanted in a woman. Everything and more!” Heather smiled as her hands went to the straps of her dress and slid them off her shoulders.
