As he looked up, he noticed that Robbie was holding a small device to his throat as he talked. As soon as he stopped talking, Noah's earbuds went back to normal and the strange pressure went away. Then, even weirder, Ms. White was smiling sexily at the meanest bully in the school. Noah took out his earbuds.

Once Robbie was through the door, the school secretary seemed to remember herself a bit. She turned towards Noah, but he'd already pulled his nood low over his eyes and slumped back on the bench like he'd been zoned out listening to music the whole time. She went back to work, but Noah paid more attention than it seemed.

Soon there was more crackling on Noah's headphones, but just barely. It happened again a few minutes later. Was Robbie using that device while he was in the principal's office?
