A peasant revolt

In the northern corner of her kingdom, where snow would always fall first come winter, her peasantry had been growing more and more unhappy. One day it’d be that the crop had failed again and fear of starvation would arise. Good queen Adelaide would have restore the granaries and promise the people that all would be taken care of. Then a fire would break out and a forest would go up in a blaze, along with three quarters of the towns in the north and good queen Adelaide would have to drum up the gold to help rehouse her people. These things, these endless necessities drove Adelaide practically insane. Everyone always looked to her to fix every little problem and cursed her when she took too long to fix them

About a month ago queen Adelaide had began taxing the peasants more harshly, war was brewing in the east, the crops had barely grown and gold had been getting spent far too graciously for too long. Of course, as she had expected, her northern peasant had begun to revolt. Her advisors had told her to crush them in a quick and easy war, they were a rabble of pitchfork wielding thugs, not true soldiers like queen Adelaide could call on. On of her generals, Bertrand Goodwood, had even suggested that he could eradicate the peasants with less than thirty horsemen. They were all the remnants of her late husband war hungry counsel. All of the them chosen for their lust for blood and skill in battle. She would have to start getting rid of them soon.

Instead Adelaide chose to meet with the leaders of the revolt, four burley, bearded men with barrel chests and each taller than the other. Men who’s family had managed to survive in the unforgiving mountains and in that time had learned very little courtesies. It made no difference to her however, queen Adelaide knew just how to get the men to agree to her every wish.
