A note from the Author

So this is one of those moments where I apologize for the long delay in publication. The simple truth of the matter is that I’ve been busy as fuck. But there’s really another reason also. I’ve spent the last few weeks trying to find the Narrator’s voice. I know where I want the story to go. The whole concept came to me in a flash, and I had to get it written. The problem was that I didn’t have any idea who the ”Artist” was. I mean from the first handful of chapters he’s obviously an unreliable narrator and that he takes pride and pleasure in his work. I know what he does and why he does it. But who is he?

So I couldn’t carry on without developing some sort of personality for him.

If you’ve read any of my other stuff you might have caught that sometime this past summer I developed an unhealthy obsession with audio drama podcasts. I’ve binged through The Magnus Archives, Tanis, Rabbits, Malevolent, The Wrong Station and a few others. I find it easy to work on everything except writing when I listen to ‘em. A couple weeks ago I started Welcome To Nightvale. I now have about 40 episodes left to catch up.

So yesterday I had a couple minutes to write and I opened up this story. I read through the first few pages and realized that I’d already found The Artist’s voice. Cecil Gershwin Palmer, voiced by Cecil Baldwin. His slightly stilted but weirdly warm voice is EXACTLY what I was looking for.

Well, enough rant from me. Remember, you won’t sleep when you’re dead either.
