Chapter 5 by rdckrd rdckrd

What's next?

A nighttime visitor and a restless sleep

Andy managed to get his sister home and dressed before their parents got home. He and McKenzie said little too each other during the entire ordeal, yet Andy felt an intimacy with his sister he hadn't felt in years. Something about holding her, carrying her in his arms, being her protector. It was nice after years of being iced out.

Still, McKenzie remained barely conscious the entire time and Andy eventually left her to sleep off her bad memories. His parents got home and asked briefly about McKenzie. Andy lied and told them that her allergies were acting up. She deserved a good night's rest after what had happened to her.

Then again, what _had _happened to McKenzie? Who were the strange girls in the woods? What was that terrible burning thing? There was so many questions and zero answers.

Eventually, Andy retired to his room and played on his laptop, trying his hardest to forget what had happened. He almost succeeded but for a harsh tapping on his bedroom window that came just a few minutes after midnight.

At first, Andy thought he was just hearing things, but when the tapping repeated several times, he eventually went to investigate. After all the horrors of the afternoon, Andy half expected some grizzly monster at his window. Instead, he got a much more pleasant sight. It was the girl from earlier: Lorna.

Andy cocked his head at the girl in confusion, trying to figure out what she wanted. Lorna motioned for him to open the window in return.

Andy hesitated. He still wasn't really sure who this chick was or what she wanted. She didn't seem human, which was already a massive concern. Plus, if she was anything like her sister, she could kill him without even putting in effort. However, that seemed like as good of a reason to open the window as it was to not. Making her mad wouldn't help anything.

Finally, Andy opened the window and had just begun to form a question for Lorna when the girl leaped forward. She gracefully brushed past Andy and landed on his bedroom floor.

It was only now that Andy truly understood the depth of the girl's beauty. Lorna stood tall and proud with an athletic frame and a voluptuous set of curves that made Andy blush. She was as hot as she was powerful.

There's a girl in my room, Andy thought. A really hot one at that. Andy's entire body burned with embarrassment and confusion.

"What's wrong, human?" Lorna asked.

"You're pretty," Andy answered in a dazed voice.

Lorna frowned and shook her head.

"Unimportant," she answered. "I've come to enlist your help. That demon my sister killed was only the beginning. More dangers could be on the way and we need assistance. You are a magic user, or at least capable of becoming one. As such, you can help us. You will help us."

This last part chilled Andy's blood. He didn't like the implication.

"Okay, I'll help. I'll try to at least. I don't really know much magic beyond a few card tricks though."

"I will instruct you," Lorna said. "I sense darkness lingering on this plain. We need any points of light we can get."

Andy had to fight the urge to gaze at Lorna's body. She really was magnificent. Not only was she a total babe, but her simple white robes did little to hide her perfect body.

"I'll be your point of light," he said, immediately regretting the words as they left his mouth.

"Good, we shall start your training tomorrow at dawn," Lorna said.

"Dawn?! No no no no no. I have school."

Lorna looked rather irked.

"School?"

Suddenly a soft, sweet voice called out from Andy's window. It was Devvi.

"It's something humans have to go to. He'll get in trouble if he doesn't go."

"I told you to stay away Devvi!" Lorna snapped. "Ugh. It is fine. What, erm, time would work better for you?"

"Afternoon? Maybe four o'clock?"

"Fine."

With that, Lorna leaped out of Andy's room. The teenage boy watched the gorgeous, supernatural girl leave, his gaze falling on her swaying bottom. Devvi lingered for a little longer, giving Andy a bright, warm smile. It was hard to believe this gorgeous, sweet girl had all the power of a nuclear bomb at her disposal.

"Thank you," Andy said softly. "For saving my sister."

Devvi nodded and gave Andy a wink before turning to catch up with her sister. Andy was left feeling confused, flustered, and a little excited. Being the total nerd that he was, there was something exhilarating about being able to spend time around such beautiful women, even if they were dangerous supernatural creatures.

Down the hall, McKenzie was tossing and turning wildly. Her sleep was restless, filled to the brim with nightmares and anxiety. Clearly, something was very, very wrong.

Every now and then, McKenzie would let out a soft, pained moan as her insides rumbled and throbbed. Had she been awake, she would have noticed a persistent aching in her abdomen. Something was twisting and turning at her insides. Tendrils from the remnant of an alien and malevolent organism snaked their way through the tissue of her reproductive system. They grew and multiplied, reworking organs and structures for a new purpose.

McKenzie was completely unaware of these changes for the moment. Very soon that would change...
