A nightmare and a dream

Zack and Heather walked on listening as the voices got louder, it seemed as if Ashley wasn’t alone, as they heard noises from a couple of other people though it was hard to tell from such a distance. “It’s farther than I thought.” Zack grunted as they continued to hike up a slight incline in the rock towards where they were going.

“Yeah, seems as if the rock I carrying the sound down the tunnel.” Heather mused. “And anyways, how exactly did you make the basketball team if you have no endurance?” Heather asked.

“There’s a reason I’m a reserve.” Zack panted. As they continued to walk further and further upwards the sounds, emanating from where they were heading became clearer and clearer.

“I don’t know if we should continue forwards Zack.” Heather said uncertainly.

“Why not?”

“Can’t you hear the sounds? You can’t be that dull that you don’t know what that is.” Heather pleaded.

“Heather, she was shouting, what if she’s being you know-“Zack said.

“What ****? Come on, she was with the rest of the group on their hike.”

“I don’t know, but don’t you just want to check?” Zack asked.

“You’re such a horndog.” Heather sighed. “Fine, but if something bad is happening, we need to jump in.” She said seriously.

“Agreed.” Zack said. They walked on listening to the loud cries of Ashley, which they knew must mean only one thing, and they seriously hoped that she was with Brandon, for the sake of the rest of their trip. The light of the sun suddenly shone in front of them blinding them momentarily. They stood there waiting for their eyes to adjust to the light at which point they continued forward until they had a slight view of what was occurring inside where the sound was coming from. At seeing what was happening inside Zack’s face turned stony, and Heather placed a hand on his shoulder to comfort him.

“I’m so sorry Zack.” She said as she looked sadly at the image of Brandon fucking Vicky from behind while Ashley rode Kurt side by side. Zack sat down shocked, he had given up on Vicky, but seeing this was too much too soon. Heather sat beside him and rested her head on his shoulder. “She doesn’t know what she’s missing.” Heather assured him smiling up at him. Zack looked down at the beauty beside him and looked her in the eyes. He saw the sincerity in her eyes, and knew at that point that he was truly free of all restraints he still felt for Victoria. He leaned his face in slightly to Heather still keeping some distance between them and maintaining eye contact throughout. “Zack we shouldn’t.” Heather whispered now only a small distance separating them. Zack took his hand and brushed the back of it along the Heather’s jaw making her shudder and close her eyes at the intimate touch. When she opened them, again she found Zack’s blue eyes and knew that the one she had spent her young adult life looking for could be right in front of him, so close.

Zack leaned a little closer until he felt Heather’s accelerated breathing on his lips. “Zack?” Heather asked, “Do you really want to do this?” Heather didn’t need an answer as Zack swept her up in his strong arms and kissed her for the first time.
