A new anesthetic (no, not that one).

June felt her pulse quicken slightly. That wasn't right, she shouldn't be- oh, there it was again! June chuckled at her disorientation. She was definitely breathing faster now.

Maybe it was the fingers in her vagina. Actually, that was definitely it.

"Slower," Meredith said gently.

"Yeah," June agreed hazily and the details came back to her in a trickle. They were meditating while fingering each other.The fingering was her idea, and Meredith seemed pretty encouraged about her brain-

"Slower," Meredith said a little louder. She was right.

"I think I'm a little slower, yeah. But I think I'll get back to normal soon."

The fingering stopped and and Meredith gently pulled June's fingers out of herself. "What... what happened?" June asked as her eyes swam into focus.

"We were both meditating and I think you're waking up a little more gradually than usual."

"...because they took a little piece of my brain," June recalled. "Which they claim will regrow. We decided to meditate on our predicament, and- oh, slower! You wanted me to go slower with my fingers!*

"It's a little late for that," Meredith chuckled. "That's ok, we need to get ready for the guys."

"What? Get ready how?" June asked, genuinely puzzled.

"Let's start with clothes," Meredith replied patiently. It was a good thing she was spiritually and emotionally enlightened in a way that transcended irritation and frustration, because otherwise this might get old.

They were still getting dressed when Damian reappeared.

"Ok, girls, for this study there's no point in keeping the nature of the **** from you. We're working on a new anesthetic."

"You're just gonna knock me out?" Meredith asked.

"Oh, no, not at all," Damian said with a chuckle. "Did you know that a major component of modern anesthesia cocktails is Midazolem, or Versed? Versed doesn't really do much for pain, though. It doesn't knock you out either. The other **** do that.

"Versed is the most important part - it makes you forget. It also gets you a little loopy, a little docile, a little euphoric, but its primary purpose is to obliterate your memory of everything after it hits your brain."

"I'm glad I'm too stupid to think about the implications of that," June joked. Damian ignored her.

"Versed is powerful, but some people still manage to catch little memories. They remember an offensive comment, a bad joke, or even flirtation between the surgical staff over their exposed innards. So we took up the challenge of building a better Versed."

"It gives you amnesia," Meredith said disinterestedly.
