A library

The door stood locked in front of them, the large number 50 still emblazoned in gold on the beautiful pinewood door. The door swung open as Delilah pushed it and within the darkness seemed all consuming until a series of torches lit up a magnificent entry hall and words appeared written in the air in fire

Charlotte let out an audible gasp, her eyes running over the shelves and shelves of books. Delilah started walking forwards, starting to read over the titles of some of the books. They leapt out to her as the kind of thing she’d hear in a fantasy movie. Stuff like ‘Titan Wrestling for beginners or Charisma of a King.’

Olivia quickly took in the look of the room, seeing a small pedestal with a set of three small golden keys on it and a single page of written text. Walking forward as casually as possible, Olivia swiped up all three keys and slipped them into her dress. “Welcome to the Library of Lost Knowledge. This library contains many tomes that can provide contestants with buffs that will last for a predetermined amount of time. These buffs can increase physical strength, endurance and other physical and mental buffs or give lesser positive transformations that will last for 24 hours. A contestant can have as many active buffs as they have main transformations.”

Olivia stopped reading, looking around at the library with something approaching awe on her face. Charlotte was looking out the window at the end of the room, her eyes wide as she beckoned the others over.

“Ugh…I don’t think we are on earth anymore…”

Delilah scoffed at that, but walked over to the window and gasped as she too looked out and saw that they were now at fifty stories up and looking out over a landscape of thick forest with rocky plateaus poking through the canopy. The fact that she could see honest to god dinosaurs moving around was the final kicker.

Olivia’s eyes widened as she too stared speechless out the window.

“Ok…this…this is a lot to take in…”

Charlotte put her hand to the glass as she looked down and saw the silver cladding of the tower the library appeared to be sat in.

“Hang on…this…I know this place. It’s one of the worlds Rose created when she was dungeon mastering for me and our friends…”

Olivia nodded numbly, pressing a hand over her mouth as she made concerted efforts to control her breathing.

“Ok…ok this is fine. Focus…buffs. Let’s use the library and maybe go to the bar and have a drink and a breakdown later…”

Delilah nodded slowly, turning back and starting to look over the books again. Swiftly she found a book and pulled it out, the cover showed a heavily muscled green woman with lots of scars in ragged clothing with the emblazoned title ‘Muscle mommy’s big day’.

Delilah felt the change come over her as soon as she opens the book, a warmth that spread through her limbs.
