Chapter 80 by Nelo
What's next in store for Naruto?
A letter!
"You're not done here yet, you know?", the Hokage warned him with a grin.
"Wha-? How much more women are waiting for me then, Granny Tsunade?", Naruto asked, both surprised and anxious at that statement.
But the Hokages grin only widened as she decided she would not spoil him that surprise. "Hah, don't get too full of yourself, you'll see for yourself soon enough. Now let's see, where did I put that paper...?", Tsunade mumbled to herself as she began rummaging through the stacks of paper on her desk.
Naruto had no clue what she was looking for, but one thing was certain. With her sense of order, it would take a while before she would find it. So, he and Konan watched as Tsunade tried to conquer the chaos on the Hokages desk.
After a while, it seemed as if she had given up, but then her eyes lit up as she pulled a small scroll that had been hidden underneath a few folders at the side of the table. "Oh, nearly forgot. A letter came in today, bearing the sign of Yuki no Kuni (Snow Country). Also, its seal is that of the daimyo, but it isn't directed at me. It's for you, Naruto.", she explained as she handed the letter to Naruto.
Naruto took the letter, eyebrow raised. Tsunade was right, this was really an envelope marked as a political message, with the proper seal and everything. Why was it sent to him then? And from the Snow Country?
Other questions also popped in, such as: If it arrived only today, why was it buried like that already? And what was the paper she was originally looking for?
Curious, Naruto opened it and began to read the content in silence.
" Hello Naruto,
do you still remember me? It's me, Kazahana Koyuki. How long has it been? At least three, I bet. You helped me to change my country and for that I still owe you my gratitude.
It's been a few years now, and Yuki no Kuni is a beautiful country now. The peaks of the mountains are still covered in snow, but it is spring again, and everything's in bloom. I wish you could see it. Well, maybe you could visit me sometime soon? If your clan is okay with that, of course. If it helps convincing them, I'll invite all of you.
You surprised I knew about it? Word travels fast about you. I'm happy for you, I always knew you would make it your dreams come true. Well, it was inevitable, seeing as you were always blabbing your mouth off about them. Just kidding, of course.
You know, I toyed with the thought of visiting you, maybe even joining your little clan there. Sadly, I still have my obligations towards my country. Being a daimyo is no fun at all. But, it's a burden that I will shoulder for my country and my people. It is my duty and I am happy to fulfill it. I hope you are aware of your duty as well.
I'm looking forward to having you as my guest, Naruto. I also wonder how you're looking right now. You're all grown up now, so you're probably not the little brat I remember anymore.
<3 Kazahana Doyuki <3 "
With that, the letter ended. Naruto of course didn't fail to notice the hearts surrounding her name. Ah, Koyuki. The former actress which turned out to be the legal heiress to the daimyo-title from Yuki no Kuni. Yeah, he still kept a few of her earlier movies with him, but he had nearly forgotten all about her. But now, it all did return to him and he smiled.
Tsunade of course caught that smile and was intrigued. "So, what does it say?", she asked. She was also curious as to what the letter contained that it was sent with the highest diplomatic urgency...
Instead of giving her every last detail, Naruto decided to hold out on a few details. "Well, she, I mean, Koyuki-sama, invited me and the girls to a vacation...", he told the Hokage. "I think I'm gonna go and visit her there, you know, 'cause I need a honeymoon and everything and I haven't planned anything. Technically, I'm still in the middle of my wedding night, after all.", he explained.
"Ooh, how convenient for you.", Tsunade laughed.
Of course, Naruto knew he would have to ask his wives for permission for that trip first, so he figured he could start with the newest one right here. "How about it, Konan? Would you like to travel to Yuki no Kuni?", he asked the former kunoicho by his side.
Konan hesitated a bit before responding. "I only heard about it. It was a supposedly freezing land, until a few years ago, spring returned to some places. I also heard that a few Konoha-nin helped in overthrowing the tyrant that lived there and installed the current daimyo. Is it correct if I assume it was you responsible for this, Naruto?", she inquired.
Naruto chuckled, rubbing his head embarrassedly. The way she said it made it sound as if he himself did all the work. "Well, yeah, but it wasn't just me alone, mind you.", he told her honestly.
Konan nodded, somewhat impressed with his humbleness in regards to his great deeds. "I see. Still, you have changed that place by just touching it, so yes, I would like to see it.", she replied, giving her consent to the journy.
Clenching his fist, Naruto already celebrated the prospect of travelling with the girls and have a real honeymoon with all of them. After all, to him, a marriage just wasn't complete without a honeymoon. "That settles it then for you. Gotta ask the others too, but I'm sure they won't mind.", he said, only to be outdone in terms of volume by Tsunade.
The Hokage had still been rummaging around her desk all that time, and eventually, she had found what she had been looking for. "AH! Finally found it!", Tsunade exclaimed victoriously as she pulled a single, inconspicous sheet of paper out of a large, wobbling stack.
What did Tsunade find?
