A lazy start

Your eyes opened slowly as it took you a second to adjust to a different environment than you were usually used to. The ceiling of the hotel room came into focus and you got your bearings but you still didn’t feel like pulling yourself up into a seated position, the warmth under the covers feeling way too comfortable to leave at the moment.

You had shared a bed with Sarah recently but the feeling of being held in place as you woke up was something new. You looked to your side still feeling slightly dazed and saw Grace clinging to your arm, your upper arm in her cleavage as she fully covered your side. One of her legs was also draped over you and you feared that even the slightest noise for you would wake her up given how close she was.

You had also wanted to check the KDK last night and you would have usually used Emma’s active to give her better dreams but that didn’t seem to be on the cards when Grace was right there next to you.

Checking it now was also risky as she could wake up and see the app but with a quick change in the settings, you set it back to the mode where subjects couldn’t see the screen, only temporarily while you were in this situation. There was also the trouble with the ‘automatic sleeping mode’, making you bring up the part of the description that was actually relevant.

While a subject is ****/asleep, the rate at which seconds are accrued is halved, meaning that every 2 seconds spent in contact with a subject, only 1 is added to their total.

In addition to this, if the User is also ****, the rate is halved again. So if both the subject and the user are ****, 4 seconds of contact adds 1 second to the subject's total(2 to 1 if only the user is ****)

It was probably unnecessary to check but you wanted to set your expectations before you took a look at Grace’s profile.

You could even see the counter going up slower than usual, at half rate instead of a quarter now that you were awake. Still a long way off but you weren’t in any rush to get to level 5 other than just the curiosity of finding out why it was different from the other levels. You still had the Crystal Ball effect that you had seen in the shop to satisfy that curiosity as well if needs be but that was up to Emma to decide. You did also want to wait until Monday to see what the weekly item would be but while you were lying here with not much to do, you took another look at the shop and all the other KDK information to pass the time. Maybe some of the information from the older descriptions would stick now that you had the intelligence upgrades.

You sat there for about 15 minutes before you heard a noise from the side of you, relaxing for a moment when you realised it was Emma and not Grace. You were still wracking up seconds with Grace being asleep so a selfish part of you wanted her to just stay asleep.

You switched the settings back on the KDK and put your phone down at the side of you while you waited to see if Emma was actually awake or not. You couldn’t really get up to see what she was doing while Grace was cuddled up next to you but you raised the arm that wasn’t currently being hugged so she might be able to see it.

“Max?” Emma whispered, quiet enough not to stir her mother.

You didn’t want to verbally reply with Grace’s face so close to your own so you just wagged your index finger in her direction and hoped that got the point across.

The bed quickly shifted from Emma moving and then she stopped, taking her time after that as she became more cautious.

You saw her head pop up as she stood from her side of the bed and then once she was that your eyes were open, she crept round so you try and talk face to face. She did pause once she got to the foot of the bed as if taking in the view of Grace clinging to you but all that did was bring a smirk to her face before she squatted down at the side of you.

“Looks like you're having a good morning” Emma whispered, pleased with herself that she got to tease you while you couldn’t do anything in return.

She had changed last night into a baggy t-shirt to be more comfortable and with her hair still messed up from when she was asleep, she was rocking a sexy casual look that you didn’t usually get to see.

“Yeah yeah laugh all you want. Did you dream of anything last night?” you replied with a grin, keeping the comment vague in case Grace heard but still seeing Emma narrow her eyes at you.

You chatted casually for a few minutes before Emma went to go to the bathroom, the shower starting up shortly after. The background noise and the fact that you were still lying down almost made you want to fall back asleep but it seemed to have the opposite effect on Grace, shifting in place as she tried to snuggle deeper into your shoulder.

This happened a few times, each with her moving slightly more as she was roused from her sleep but she still held you tightly as if you were the object she needed to hide away from the noise waking her up.

You knew it was only a matter of time until she woke up but you tried to think if there was anything you could do while this was happening.
