A laboratory

It's a lab. Or to be more precise, the most famous lab in your city. It's a particle physics laboratory which was known a couple years back for proving the existence of dark matter. It didn't seem to matter that it was a fairly small particle accelerator and that the Large Hadron Collider had failed to make the discovery with much more advanced technology, the team of whiz scientists in your city had somehow achieved it.

Since then, the news from this laboratory had been quiet and you hadn't heard anything in the news lately. The borrowed memories you held from being zapped by the brown pen told you that you were Elizabeth Li, a junior scientist at this lab and Tom was your supervisor. You, or rather Liz, had been crunching data from yet another dark matter experiment which your higher ups thought proved the existence of other worlds. It was such a world shattering hypothesis that you had all been sworn to secrecy (via ironclad NDAs) until the math and evidence were ready to reveal to the world.

The two of you entered easily with your borrowed forms and IDs and got to work with preparing the next experiment. The data that had been gathered in the last experiment was sufficient to justify another trial to see if the results could be repeated. Tom tapped a few specifications into the machine and activated the particle accelerator, sending thousands of subatomic particles hurtling against each other.

Results were thrown up on the screen and complex numbers streamed onto the computer screens in front of you. Liz's brain and knowledge told you these results were even better than the data she had crunched from the last experiment. Whatever Tom had done to the variables must've done this. You looked over at him and he was staring intently at a small portable device which looked like it was projecting a small holographic display above it. He poked and prodded at what was being shown and then nodded.

"This is our way out Liz. Stay close," he commanded as he rested an arm around your shoulders and pressed one of the holographic buttons.

"Wait David!" a female voice exclaimed from behind you but before you could turn around, a portal surrounded you and both you and Tom were sucked through in a flash of light.
