A good opportunity

I turned towards towards the rustling prepared to throw a spell if it was a threat, after a moment 2 small forms burst through the foliage heading in my direction until stopping half way, getting a look at the 2 they seemed to be cat people, full anthro not catgirl style, with ginger fur, simple kimono's, and seemed to be children, they were staring at me obviously afraid until 2 larger forms burst from the foliage behind them, causing the 2 kittens to start running towards me.

The 2 larger forms also stopped when they saw me about a third of the way between the tree line and me, these 2 were wolf men, one red and the other grey, they were wearing lamellar chest plates, grieves, and gauntlets over padded clothes and wield Japanese spears called yami, they simply stared at me in shock as the 2 cats ran towards.

As the 2 kittens reached me they started begging for help as they grabbed at my kimono, this seemed to snap the wolves out of their shock causing the grey one to step forward and yell at the 2 kittens "get back here you little shits!" the red wolf tried to grab his comrades shoulder but here he could I raised my hand.

Within a second a pale blue flame gathered in my hand before I released it aiming to the side of the 2 wolves, the fire bullet flew past the 2 men and struck a small tree destroying most of its trunk and causing the rest to burst into blue flames causing it to creak then fall to the side, this caused everything to go quiet as both the kittens and wolves stopped and stared at the burning tree before turning back to me.

I lowered my hand and sighed before saying "now that everyone is paying attention why don't you all explain what's happening?" the wolves were still stunned but the older of the 2 kittens who I think is a girl yelled "they attacked our village!" the smaller of the 2 who I think is a boy added "they hurt a bunch of people!"

I crouched down and consoled them for a moment before looking at the 2 wolves, they seemed afraid but were hiding it, I used gods eye and saw they were both level 9 wolf-kin, the red one was named Akane, the grey one was named Daiki, and checking their opinions of me they were both afraid of me, with this info I said "you haven't spoken yet Daiki, why don't you explain why 2 grown men were chasing children in the woods?"

This caused Daichi to go rigged while Akane was looked between us with confusion and worry, after a moment Daiki managed to compose himself before yelling with as much confidence as he could "we are soldiers in service to lord Kosuke! We were charged with the raiding of these villages for the war effort against lady Haruka!"

After he said that I thought for a moment before I got a notification, realizing it was from my hud I saw I got a quest, opening my menu I saw I'd gained a quest to help one of the 2 sides, I thought for a moment before deciding on my next step, standing I said "I don't know of this lord Kosuke nor lady Haruka, yet you admit to raiding innocent villages so I will give you both one chance to surrender or else." with those words said I filled my hands with blue flame as a threat.

The 2 looked at me with fear before Akane said to his other "Daiki, I don't want to die." Daiki turned to him "I don't either." with that their grip on their weapons loosened until they simply dropped them and yelled that they surrendered as they put their hands behind their heads.

I was happy that they surrendered before turning to the 2 kittens and remembering to use gods eye I saw they were both level 1 with the girls name being Kiku and the boys being Jun, I next said "Kiku, Jun, please wait here why I talk to those 2." they looked surprised probably from me knowing their names and seemed to not want to leave me but complied and stepped behind me.

I then walked up to the wolves, standing in front of them I towered over them "I don't want to risk either of you trying to escape or attack me or the kittens so I'm going to cast a spell on you 2, it wont do any long term damage so don't resist or else." they looked at each other before nodding, I then placed one hand on each of their heads and casted mark of submission.

The spell took about a minute to finish and after it was I moved my hands from their heads and took a step back, as I did so the 2 opened their eyes and looked at each other and me before Akane said "what was that?"

I replied "the spell I cast on you has 2 main functions, 1 it stops you from being able to attack me in anyway and 2 it makes you follow any order I give you."

The 2 looked at me with a new sense of fear as Daiki asked "so were your slaves now?"

I replied "effectively, though I'd prefer you serve me willingly with the mark only serving as a last resort so I'll give you the offer now, serve me willing as retainers or serve me unwillingly as **** soldiers, decide."

The 2 wolves looked at each other before Akane said "there's only one choice here honestly." with that he dropped to his knees and bowed his head before saying "my life is yours my lord." Daichi watched him for a moment before doing the same and saying "please treat us well my lord."

With that I told them "stand and wait both of you." they did so as I turned to the kittens and walked back to them and kneeing down in front of them said "your safe now little ones those men serve me now and can't do any bad things anymore." as I began petting their heads again.

The 2 learned into my pettings and Jun grabbed my arm before asking "what about our family?"

I replied "were going to go help them right now, do you mind if I carry you 2?"

Both shook their heads, with that I picked them up and they snuggled into my kimono as I walked towards the wolves and said "take me to their village." with that they nodded, picked up their yari, turned to the woods, and began walking as I followed.
