A game of cat & mouse

Just after I finished hearing another report from one of my Imps a notification pops up on my view signaling someone entered my dungeon.

“Well, well, well, looks like we finally have more guests. Isn’t it exciting?” I ask Ariel who has begrudgingly accepted his current situation, he still won’t move a finger for me but at least he took it upon himself to take care of Lucy and help her recover.

“Yeah suuuper exciting… maybe this group will manage to kill you.” Ariel responds sarcastically as he crosses his arms. He has a surprisingly dark sense of humor for an angel.

“That’s weird. Last time I could see their location on the map but this time it doesn’t appear and I can’t see their numbers.” I keep scanning the map of the dungeon looking for the red dots that appeared last time to no avail.

“They must be using some kind of spell or ability to conceal their presence.” Comments Ariel before covering his mouth with his hands realizing too late that he just gave me a tip without realizing it.

“I see, looks like they are more careful and experienced than Lucy and the other one.” I order my Imps to spread through the castle to find the intruder. I know that their chances of winning against an experienced adventurer without me to buff them are practically zero, but from my map I can see their status and if one is taken out I’ll be able to localize the intruder.

Just as expected, it doesn’t take long before one of the Imps is quickly dispatched in one of the rooms on the first floor. “So there you are, now I’ll just…” however just as I’m ordering the Imps to go to the first floor another one of my minions is defeated, this time on the second floor. “What!? There are two of them!? No matter I’ll just deal with them one at a time.” But then another Imp on the opposite side of the second floor stops moving and then another. “What the fuck is going on!? Are we being raided? Just how many intruders are there?” I start to get a little worried about my own safety and I order the rest of the Imps to group up and return to the throne room but then I hear a loud explosion that blows open the gates of the throne room and with them the surviving Imps I had available.

“Ok, that just happened…Ariel! I’m probably going to need a little help here.” I do my best to keep myself calm but it’s obvious that this time I’m not dealing with a group of newbies.

“Don’t worry Bel, I got you, I’ll go and make sure Lucy is safe” Ariel answers and before I can say anything else he leaves me all by myself against this unknown threat.

“That’s not what I meant you stupid angel!”
