A fundraiser

"A fundraiser," Abby says as she dials a number on her phone.

"A fundraiser? You want me to throw a fundraiser? For what?" you ask, but Abby's on the phone and she holds up a finger to you, telling you to wait.

"Hi, Camila? It's Abby... Thank you, we're still grieving over Nigel, but he passed on his estate to my new boss, John. Could you come over and help him with a tuxedo? We'll need it to be expedited for an evening tonight... Great! See you soon!" Abby hangs up the phone and turns back to you.

"Not throw a fundraiser, although that's not a bad idea. Nigel was generous with his money, he gave lots of donations to all kinds of good causes. As luck would have it, there's 1 fundraiser tonight at the 4 Seasons. It's a charity that provides scholarships, equipment, coaching, and other stuff for girls with an interest in sports. I'll write them a check for a half million bucks, if you want. It's chump change to you," Abby says.

Abby had been with Nigel for a while and you assume she knows what she's doing. "I guess? But, I don't understand. Aren't these girls?"

Abby chuckles. "Yes, but guess who supports the charity? Female athletes that wish they had the opportunity. They'll be very appreciative of your donation and that's how you make a good first impression."

"Oh, I get it now," you say. "And who's Camila? That person you just called?"

"That's Nigel's personal tailor. Well, her father was his tailor, and she took over the business after he passed. So you're both the next generation of tailor and client. Her father was a great tailor from Cuba, fled from the Castros to come here. She's very good, but uh... don't get any ideas."

"Why?"

"Nigel offered her a contract a while ago. They were really hitting it off, until she met some other guy and thought he was the one."

"What happened?"

"He turned out to be a **** dealer. Anyway, she nearly got into trouble with the authorities because of him, and Nigel had to pull many strings to protect her. So, it's complicated. Also, she's ultra religious. We were chatting once after a few drinks, and I'm pretty sure she's one of those women who still waits for marriage before sex."

You raise your eyebrows. "But she knows about all this?"

"Yup. But it's not like we're prancing around naked or engaged in anything salacious when she comes over to fit Nigel for a suit."

"How old is she?"

"28, 29, I think. Anyway, I've got some things to attend to. I'll make sure you have the details for the fundraiser in your email and I'll have a car pick you up. And don't worry, I'll make sure it's known how much you're contributing to the charity. Camila should be here soon, so just chill."

After that, Abby leaves and you hang out as she instructs, waiting for your personal tailor to arrive and start thinking about the fundraiser.
