Chapter 6 by Squiddog Squiddog

Day 1 at the farm

A family as bountaful as their farm

Rein and Skavel stood in their temporary quarters, it was a simple room with a standard bed and small desk, a small shuttered window overlooking the bed, "Sorry about the bedding but it's all I have for you." Lousa stated as the pair cast their eyes around.

"That is fine, better then our normal camping conditions." Skavel replied turning to face Lousa.

"There is also a stream on the other side of the farm, you can wash there." Lousa added to which the pair nodded.

"So how long has it been since you last lost livestock?"Skavel asked, looking down at their temporary host.

"The day before today, if the pattern holds then the thief will be back either tomorrow or the day after." Lousa recalled for the pair.

"I see... where do you keep your livestock, it would be good if we can survey the area and plan for tomorrow." Rein responded after a moment of thought.

"Over near the stream I mentioned, both the chickens and sheep are in sight of it." Lousa stated and started to lead the pair out of the room and out of the house, pointing them away from where they came from, and with that Lousa left the northerners and shut the house door softly.

The pair started a slow walk in the direction of the stream, and Skavel started, "Well that was not what I expected, are we actually going to help them?" She asked curiously, looking at her companion.

"For now, we need shelter and information, Lousa can give us that, and once we gain a few more able bodies this is a fine target for a raid, that woman is a prize and a half, and five daughters, if the other four are half as good looking as Halla, well, I'm sure it will pay off in one way or another." Rein replied calmly, going over different plans and outcomes.

As the pair approached the stream Skavel added, "I admit I hope we can have some fun while we're here, it is starting to get uncomfortable." And Skavel shifted awkwardly, trying to hide her raging cock.

"I mean, if not the lady of the farm or her daughters then certainly there are other women in the town, we'll find someone." Rein reassured her partner, her own cock having been stiff since meeting Halla.

"All said, from what I see of Targlis from here, a well equipped warband would have little trouble here, come in the night, ****, pillage and plunder the surrounds, hit the walls with fire from one side, move around with a main **** and breach from elsewhere, the town would be rubble by dawn." Skavel trailed on, giving a basic overview of how she would raid the town and Rein hummed in agreement.

The pair paused at the shallow stream and looked across to see the pen of sheep and barn bumped up beside it with a few loose chickens mulling about, "Open ground but close to the forest and far away enough from the house no one would see anything in the day, let alone at night." Rein assessed.

"No way to light up the area and torches would be seen instantly, moonlight would have to do, barn would serve as a reasonable enough staging point for an ambush, if a bit obvious." Skavel added at the pair came close to the barn.

"Where would the thief be coming from, the only approaches with any cover are the woodland and stream?" Rein pondered aloud while she and Skavel started walking around the barn to see if there was anything noteworthy.

"Depends if it's a local then the stream would be the safest option, if it is something else then the woods make more sense, but you never know, no idea what is actually stealing from here." Skavel replied looking around towards the woodland and came to a pause.

"See something?" Rein asked stopping beside her companion, now at the back of the barn.

"Something is wrong here, look at the woods, there is a break in the treeline." Skavel replied, pointing straight at the woods where a gap in the trees had been forcefully made, bending two aside an odd angles away from each other.

"That is no goblin of common thief... let's just keep that to ourselves, don't want to risk losing our employment." Rein stated, staring on into the trees.

",,,Those are big oak trees, it would take something along the lines of an ogre or troll to do that, this will be interesting... oddly i see no tracks though." Skavel mentioned looking around the ground.

"Regardless, the barn is our best bet, we hide around the side and watch the trees, I would rather not be inside and get caught off guard because I couldn't see what was coming." Rein concluded, and with nothing further to say or do the pair made their way back to the house.
