A different target

Now that he had regained composure. John took a moment to consider his third change. He looked over and saw Justin sitting next to Yumi. Justin was the most popular guy in school; he was asian, handsome and his family was incredibly rich. To add to that he was captain of the school curling team, so naturally he had all the women after him. He was incredibly rude to whoever he thought wasn’t worthy of his respect, having bullied nearly everyone who wasn’t in his friends circle. His rudeness wasn’t even limited to students, he once or twice directly insulted a few teachers to their face. Perhaps due to his rich and powerful family pulling strings, he was never properly punished for his actions.

Yumi, Justin’s girlfriend, was of course, the most popular girl in school. However her demeanour wasn’t that of an arrogant ‘cool’ kid, instead she was remarkably quiet and aloof. But nonetheless, her relationship with Justin and her intense beauty, left her the queen of the school. Justin and Yumi weren’t an openly affectionate couple however so John decided to ask Jane a few questions about their relationship.

“Do they actually like each other? Or are they just feeding off each others popularity?” John typed.

“They have grown fond of one another, and they do like how popular they have become since announcing their relationship. But the original and driving motivations behind their coupling is their families.” Jane answered.

“Oh? How so?”

“Yeah. Both their families are super rich and they want to essentially merge the two together.”

“Would they ever break up? Or are they resigned to getting married?”

“They have accepted that they will spend their lives together. They would only break up if their families wished it or something really fucking crazy happened.”

“Really fucking crazy?”

“You know ****, **** or some other violent crime. Cheating or general unfaithfulness may also do it.”

John rubbed his hands together as he planned what he was going to do, his thoughts began scheming. “All right, for this change I want you to get rid of that last one about cheating. Have them only actually break up due to **** or their families wanting it or whatever.” His words blinked green on his screen.

The following morning John woke in his one bedroom apartment, completely alone as always. Both of John’s parents had died in a rollercoaster crash when he was fifteen. But they really hadn’t been a big part of his life, or for that matter very affectionate towards him either; they lived a lavish life on what little money they had, holidaying most of their years abroad. He lived in a foster home for a year before running away so many times his new family decided to let him go. John, with the help of the family lawyer, had sold his biological families home and moved into his tiny apartment. He got up, blasted open his laptop, and hurried to enter his next three changes.

“I want to become the most attractive version of myself that I can. I want Yumi to develop a fantasy about cheating. And I want Justin to develop a fantasy about being cucked.” John typed madly.

His words blinked yellow, “Each of these changes will require one change a day for the next two weeks.” Jane said.

John groaned impatiently, “Fine.” He typed, his words changed to green.
