Chapter 418 by lew54321

Do you dig for more information?

A different approach

As much as you wanted to find out more, you didn’t want to start causing issues when you had only been back for a few minutes and there was still one more person in the house you thought you could maybe get some clues from.

“Okay then. From the looks of it, dinner’s almost ready so do you want me to go grab Lucy?” you asked, looking for an excuse to leave these two on their own.

“That would be lovely. If you can tell her it will be about maybe five to ten minutes to give me some time” Mom replied, still working to get things prepared.

With Mom’s back turned you faced Sarah again, placing your hand on her cheek and leaning in for a kiss. You kept it chaste as you had already said you were going to go find Lucy but it was sincere, your foreheads now touching and your lips lingering only an inch away from hers as you parted.

“I’ll be back down soon. Okay?” you whispered, getting a breath of relief from Sarah before she slowly nodded her head.

With one final look to Mom, you left the kitchen and headed towards the stairs. You did want to see Lucy again as you had missed her even if she would likely tease you for saying that. In the spirit of being open with everyone like your new plans were, you still might tell her that but there were a few things Lucy needed to hear about as well that might change the mood.

You lightly knocked on her door and after getting no response, tapped harder to get her attention.

“Yeah, come in!” she replied, inviting you inside.

Lucy was lying on her bed as you entered, her phone off to the side of her with some earphones plugged in. One was still in her ear while she held the other, explaining the reason why she didn’t hear you the first time.

“Oh hey, you’re back” she greeted, sitting up from where she was to talk with you properly.

A thought hit you that you couldn’t get out of your head and after having already kissed Mom and Sarah when you got in, why not make it three for three.

You walked over to her as confidently as you could manage and sat down on the bed at the side of her. You did the same as you had done with Sarah and held Lucy’s cheek before leaning in. Lucy gave you an eye roll as if she expected this behaviour out of you but she still reciprocated, leaning in to meet you.

The kiss lasted longer than Sarah’s as you didn't have the pressure of Mom watching but you were still on a time constraint and separated sooner than you would have liked

“I assume you’ve already talked with Mom then?” Lucy asked with a smirk.

Whatever reaction you gave your sister was enough to tell her you had no idea what she was talking about.

“Oh, you haven’t have you?” she questioned, her smirk turning from playful to something more sinister.

“No..?” you replied, both of you sharing a look as you tried to get a read on each other.

Whatever had gone on while you weren’t around was now becoming a lot more of a mystery than you first thought. You knew it somehow involved you and apparently you kissing Lucy had been connected to that? Your thoughts raced but Lucy interrupted before you got too distracted.

“Then why the sudden kiss?” Lucy asked, making you focus in again on the conversation.

“Hey, I missed you. Can’t I show it? Why would me talking to Mom change if I can kiss you?” you said, firing the question back to her.

“That’s for you to find out” she replied, the smirk only widening now that she knew something you didn’t.

You had no idea if it was something positive or negative as you could clearly imagine Lucy enjoying your reaction if it was either outcome. For a brief moment you considered holding some of the knowledge you knew over her head to get her to tell you but given the seriousness of it, that was something you weren’t willing to do to her.

Again Lucy seemed to notice the change in your expression when your thoughts turned in that direction but this time she saw that it was something more serious, waiting for you to talk before she said anything further.

“It’s not exactly the best time to tell you but after dinner I’m gonna go work a shift at the gym and I don’t know when I’ll next be able to see you on your own. Mom and Sarah are downstairs now as well so now will have to do. It’s about the reason for my trip if you are ready for the news? I’ll also say we are about to have dinner and none of this can be relayed to Mom yet. She will find out soon but…not yet” you said, turning to check you had fully closed the door while you had this discussion.

“Ah. If you’re this serious I assume you found out something. I’ve kept quiet for years so a few more days won’t hurt… I’m as ready as I can be.” Lucy replied, taking a deep breath in preparation.

You moved from the edge of the bed where you had been sitting since you had kissed her and sat more firmly on the bed, letting you face each other while you had this talk.

You couldn’t think of a nice way to just tell her that your father was still cheating on Mom, had another house and had another kid. That felt like too much of a bombshell to just drop on her so you went over the events of your weekend in order.

Your spying on the house and following your father to the bar. Going back to the house and having your first conversation with Izzy, putting her in a good light in how she was willing to help you and how she also felt negatively towards your father before you revealed that Jack existed.

You let that news settle for a moment as you saw Lucy’s eyes widen but you continued, telling her about today when you visited again and got to hear more about Izzy and what you assumed were the financial troubles that your father seemed to be facing.

All of that leading to Izzy coming for a visit at some point but you left out when she would be staying at Grace’s for now, waiting to see how Lucy felt before you said anything else. You left out almost all of the weekend not relating to Izzy as for the most part, it involved you, Emma and Grace in various states of undress that weren’t related to the topic at hand. Even if you did want to brag about it to someone.

It took her a few moments to speak up as you were sure her thoughts were all over the place but you didn’t push her to speak, waiting until she was ready on her own terms.

How does Lucy react?
