A danger in cold stone

Fortunately Eselivvene had a map and new where we were on it and had marked a number of places were groups of orcs and goblins were sighted so we headed north towards the closest area where they had been seen moving quietly…. Well except mark that clattered and clanked in his armor and complained about everything under the sun… fortunately for me he kept saying. “I wish someone knew where we are” which every time gave me a grant because Esivvene knew where we were. But I couldn’t help thinking he should go back to playing the piano and leave the adventuring to people with spines.

After about half a days walk we started to come across goblin and orc statues or sometimes just a head and it made me feel uneasy something about them was not normal Eselivvene said they were goblin totems a way of marking there territory but I felt uneasy like when you feel like someone is watching you and you look up only to find no one’s there but instead I found a statue… of a goblin

Even tho we were in goblin territory we didn’t see a single one all day which felt even stranger then the statues finally we made camp. Unfortunately one of those statues was on the edge of the clearing we decided to camp in and was facing the camp it gave me a decidedly bad feeling in my gut.

We all ate in relative silence save mark saying he wished we had pork. I thought about trying to hunt down a bore or pig of some sort tho chose not to with the statue on the edge of camp something about it gave me the creeps I couldn’t shake the feeling it was watching us. This time watches were more important and were a rotation so they were staggered so there was always a person watching over the switch in guards. I was also watching for danger. I hadn’t realized but I hadn’t stepped all that much the night before butt didn’t feel all that sleepy so I stayed up to watch.

By now I had gotten 16 points on mark so for the first bit of the night I chose to check what all I could do with that many points

Mmm that would be helpful if I looked like a monster but I don’t

Shadow dispersal

Let’s the granter disperse themselves into shadows or darkness making it so others can’t effect them but they also can’t effect others costs 15 points

Sneaky but I don’t think it’s vary useful And it would set me back a lot

Familial transference

Allows the granter to teleport to a person that owe them 5 points or more by expending 1 of those points you arrive in a shadow of your choice with in 100 feet of the target costs 15 points

That… that is actually pretty good it means I could jump around and if something happened and the girls split up… it will wipe me out all most but I think I’ll take that besides with the amount that mark complains I’ll be back up to 16 in no time

After that I laid down on my belly next to the tents and mostly just listened and looked at the statue… I still didn’t like the statue

It was about half way through the night when I heard them soft quiet footsteps. At the time mark and Lilly were on watch mark was oblivious but Lilly disappeared about 3 minutes after I first heard them and then I heard her whispering for the others to get up one by one. I could tell by there whispers it was bad goblins and orcs could see well at night and human could not Lilly seemed to be an exception that or using something other then sight. So over half the group were blind and the group attacking us was larger then ares by at least a 3 to 1 margin and we didn’t know what there levels or evolutions were… maybe I could use some of my old world knowledge and some ingenuity to get the drop on them.

I stood up turned the way I could hear them and focused on my magic and what I wanted to happen. Then I howled as loudly as I could tho this was just for show and then use my earth magic like I was taught in the dream but with a twist I was looking for a number of underground chemicals that when exposed to the moisture in the are would spark and copper. what I got was copper and lots of it a number of metal spikes stabbed there way up through the ground. I had really hoped I could get better lighting for the others but no. Fortunately Ellie stepped forward and with a smell preyer the camp and a large area around it was bathed in bright light and I was blinded… ow. I could hear the enemies starting their charge. I then heard Anna shouting something about for the hunt and some of the goblins scream then a crack of lighting fallowed be more goblin screams in only took a short time before the goblin were all dead.

After the fight I got 2 levels in both ranger and sorcerer that increased my ranger knowledge skills and my wizards manipulate elements skills. I also got 5 levels in granter and 5 levels in beast kin wolf pack alpha seer. The granter increased my deception and persuasion skills and the pack alpha gave me more levels in tracking by sent, stealth and foresight. foresight was now level 12 and instantly I had a premonition or something I could see a orc sitting on a thrown of human and beast kin bones and I saw his abilities to I guess the eyes of the gods aren’t limited to normal sight… anyway he had an ability called stone eyes of the watcher. it was similar to My far sight ability where I can tap into my pack members 5 sense and experience what they did for the last 24 hours except his only lets him see or hear from the point of a statue that has eyes and ears. the other things I noticed was 1 the orc chief had an ability that I had not see before on anyone other then myself but called outsider and 2 the goblin and orcs group were around 600 strong this was not a battle we could win. I didn’t know what to do I couldn’t tell them we are doomed if we try and fight that but they would run right into it if I did nothing. So I decided the best course of action was to give them all the same dream. So one by one I gave them a dream where the god of light came to them and told them to turn back and get help or they would all die and the orcs would attack the towns and settlements close by. And I preyed my trick worked. I also checked out my ability outsider

you are not from this world and have knowledge of things from another world both science and technology and can still read and right those languages

Wait that means that guy is also from another world… no I’m making the right call telling them to run away I won’t risk my pack to see if he came from my world
