Chapter 133

Which group do we follow...?
A couple of odd pairings
The ride back to town seemed to go smoother than Zack had anticipated, with Heather staying surprisingly quiet in the back seat while seeming busy reading or sometimes writing something on her phone. She'd never seemed like the kind of girl to hang out on forums or reading that much at all, but lately he'd noticed her doing this a lot, so whatever she'd found it must be quite intriguing indeed.
Ashley meanwhile was busy messaging someone on her phone as well, at least during the start of their trip, and when he asked her about it she just smiled and showed him that picture of their siblings again - causing him to blush slightly and stop asking her questions, while the picture reminded him of the past night before he went to sleep.
"They're still in town they say..." The blonde explained after a while - and another couple of messages later -, and she looked really enthusiastic about it too. "Do you think we could meet them for lunch?"
"Yeah, sure with me!" Heather announced from behind them, when they thought she hadn't even been listening, and she flashed them a curious smile in the rear view mirror. "I'd love to hear every detail about them dumping my dear older cousin...!"
"I'm sure you would!" Laughed Ashley, before they both returned their attention to their phones again. She soon got bored about messaging her sister though, and ended up just looking out the window while they continued down the road.
"Hey, Zack...?" She asked after a while, as she was much too social to be quiet for long, and looked at him with a thoughtful pout on her lips when he turned his head to look at her. "How come we never really met each other until later, when our sisters have been best friends for like ages...?"
"Because I'm a bit more of the nerdy type...?" He countered the question with a friendly smile at her. "And because you're like one of the top most wanted girls in school...?"
"Tch!" She snorted back at him, and then laughed a little. "I never thought of you like that, actually! And don't you try and compare me to Heather or someone...!"
"Someone like your sister, Hannah?" He asked her, again with that friendly smile on his face, and could see how she turned to look at him curiously again. "You're not 'that' different after all, you know...?"
"I think I'll take that as a compliment..." The blonde grinned back at him, and then considered for a moment. "But seriously though...! I'm really not like any of those two!"
"No, you're mostly just prettier." Said Heather, while just barely looking up from her phone to flash the girl a wide smile. "Quite as sexy, no. But definitively got a game with the right kind of guys."
"If you're referring to Brandon...?" Ashley grinned at her, but then hesitated and sighed a little. "He's much too nice for me, you know?"
"Don't think about that." The other girl told her, again without looking up for long from her phone. "You know it's the other way around as well..."
Meanwhile, the guy they were talking about was just about to head out for a walk on the paths around the cabin, in hopes to clear his mind a little off all the things that had happened over the last couple of days. Or at least that had been the original plan, until he'd noticed Chloe was about to head out as well.
"I really need a walk, I think..." Said the redhead to their friend Gavin, and at first seemed to hope that he'd join her, but then realized Brandon was already on his way out as well. For a moment she looked torn about it, as if weighting the time she'd like to spend alone with one against the other, and eventually choose to go with Brandon for some reason without waiting for Gavin's reply.
Thus the two of them walked in silence for quite some time, as they both seemed uncertain what to talk about, but obviously wanted to ask the other about something important.
"So... you and Zack, then...?" Brandon finally asked her, knowing it was a really lame kind of opening line, but figured he needed to get started somewhere. He'd only seen the two of them together for a brief moment, while he was fairly busy with something else entirely, but had noticed during the evening and morning too the kind of glances they'd shared with one another. "I always wondered when you'd come around to it..."
"Well..." Chloe actually blushed quite deeply, like he'd never seen her before, and he was a little surprised as he'd always figured her to be the stable and down to earth kind of girl. There was definitively more to her than he'd conceived however, and not just physically as he'd found out the last evening.
"It's mostly just a friend kind of thing..." She continued hesitantly, after a short break, and flashed him a regretful little smile that told him she wasn't comfortable speaking about it at all. "And what about you and Heather...?"
"Well, I guess it's pretty much the same thing there." Brandon admitted, and gave up a nervous laughter. This was what he'd liked to talk to her about, though now he wasn't so sure at all about how to go on with it.
"Ashley knows about it..." He finally continued, as he felt this was the most important part of it all. He'd hate to be branded a cheater by his own friends, and he almost hoped that Zack would confront Ashley or Heather about the whole thing during their trip to town, so that he too would learn some truth to their strange three-way relationship.
"I kinda figured as much." Chloe surprised him again, as she nodded thoughtfully, and then flashed him another quick smile. "I know Heather is playing her tricks on all of us, and it wouldn't surprise me if she actually managed to talk you right out of Ashley's hands."
"Well, actually..." Brandon started with another quick laughter, but then hesitated again as he wondered how it all had actually begun. Perhaps Chloe was right about Heather, but there was definitively more than that going on. "I think Ashley was the one who started it you know, and now she just really wants us both to try something... different..."
"You mean she's bored of a long term relationship...?" The redhead seemed a little surprised to hear this, but then nodded solemnly as she could see in his eyes that it was likely the truth to it. "I... just hope you'll sort it out, somehow. You've always been my greatest models for a working relationship..."
"I dunno about that!" He chuckled at the compliment, and then glanced at her curiously. "Have you... had many boyfriends before Zack...?"
"I told you, we're not even in a relation!" She smiled back at him, and again looked just a little bit sad about it, before brightening up again. "I do have more than one really good friend though. So I guess you could say that..."
"Really?" Brandon just looked at her for a moment, and could see in her eyes what confirmed his sudden suspicions. "Damn...? For how long...?"
"Just since we got here!" Chloe laughed again, this time a little sheepishly, but also most sincerely. "And same thing for you, Heather and Ash...?"
"Yeah, it must be something in the air out here!" He grinned back at her, and then they continued walking for another few moments in silence, before he dared to say something more. "I just hope we can all stay friends after all this, you know..."
"Yeah!" She smiled, and gave him a look as if she suddenly viewed him in a different light from before. Just like he'd been trying to reevaluate her, during their conversation and the evening before. "I'd really love to have you as a friend, Brandon..."
Meanwhile, Gavin had just finished another page of his story and started on another, when he realized he'd been too busy writing to pay any actual attention to the ones around him, and he felt a sudden pang of guilt for barely even answering when Chloe tried to ask him for a walk outside. At the other hand she'd seemed rather happy to go with Brandon though, and he figured both she and himself could need a little time to settle in after their last night together...
"Ummm...?" A voice suddenly interrupted him, and almost caused him to jump high in surprise, as he'd completely forgot he wasn't quite alone in the cabin after all. Turning his head he found Vicky standing in the hallway behind the couch he was sitting in, and she was looking around her like if searching for the others. "Where is everyone...?"
"Zack and Heather went back to town to resupply, and took Ashley with them." Gavin answered truthfully, while not quite managing to keep his eyes from taking in the sight before him. Once again the cute blonde seemed dressed in little more than a white t-shirt, and he could almost follow her long legs all the way up her hips, with only her hand clutching at them hem to keep the garment from riding high enough to expose her crotch.
"And I think Chloe and Brandon went out for a walk..." He finished a bit lamely, while again trying to **** himself to look back into her eyes rather than down to her lovely thighs. That only meant he was captivated by those beautiful green eyes however, and he stuttered nervously as he became uncertain of where he could actually look at all. "I-I think they left you some breakfast in the kitchen!"
"Oh, thanks...!" She smiled weakly, and then drifted off in the direction he'd pointed her to. Seeing her from behind allowed him to start breathing again, as the cute white panties she was wearing proved that she wasn't naked at least, even if they certainly didn't leave much to the imagination either.
He figured she'd probably finish her breakfast in the other room - so eventually went back to writing again -, but only a few moments later she proved him wrong, by returning back to the living room with her sandwich to sit down in couch opposite from him. She didn't disturb him much while eating though - even if his mind was haunted by those long legs as she crossed them over one another -, and allowed him another attempt at returning back to his story for just a short while.
"Ummm... What are you writing about...?" She asked him, and surprised him by blushing slightly when he glanced up to look at her. Wasn't that how he should be reacting, when a cute girl like her tried to ask him uncomfortable questions....?
"Just a couple of forum threads, basically..." He tried with the same explanation as he'd given Chloe the other night, but was again surprised by the curiosity in this girl's green eyes. Was it possible that she too had managed to read over his shoulder, or could it be that Heather...?
"I... was told you're a really good author..." She continued lamely - while practically confirming his worst suspicions -, with the cute blush returning to her face again, and making him feel like he just wanted to run away from the entire situation. Vicky seemed quite persistent however, and despite her obvious troubles with saying it out loud, there was obviously something on her mind that she'd like to ask him about. "Did you... write something else that actually happened...? Like the one with... well... Heather and me...?"
"Uh...? I dunno really..." Gavin replied, after staring dumbfounded at her for a moment, and then tried to comprehend what she could actually want out of this. The easiest way to find out was usually to simply ask though. "Why...?"
"Well, I don't know..." The blonde looked at him helplessly for a while, before trying to explain it - as much to herself as to him. "I just felt like... you kinda know that side of me better than myself, I guess...?"
"And I... really don't know what to do right now..." She continued lamely, while he finally realized where she was headed with all this, and also that she was actually complimenting him for writing that thread. "So, could you just... you know... keep writing stuff like that about me...?"
"I... do have a few threads up already..." Gavin told her - with quite some hesitation, and even a hint of panic in his voice -, even when he was also flattered that this girl seemed so willing to read his stories. "I just don't think they're actually you though..."
Many paths to follow...
