A concerned gorgon

After a few minutes of cuddling and kissing, Anna falls asleep, and you cover her with the blankets and get up. Throwing on a pair of pants, you walk down the hall towards the bathroom.

You pause as you hear pleasant humming coming from the room Elys is meant to stay in. You walk over and glance into the open door. Elys is sitting on the edge of the bed, gently running her fingers through the red hair of a sleeping Maya. She is humming a tune and smiling at the dozing half-dragon. Looking up, she meets your eyes and puts a delicate finger to her lips. Rising from the bed, she glides over to you with graceful strides.

Quietly, she says, “Let the poor girl sssleep. I think I wore her out.” Elys winks at you. “Come, we have thingsss to talk about.”

You nod, closing the door behind you and leading her to the living room. You both sit on the couch, Elys crossing her legs and looking at you appraisingly.

“Maya really caresss about you, Josh. She isss quite worried about the threatsss you’ve gotten. We ssspoke for a while before we...got dissstracted.” A glance at her betrays a slight blush from the gorgon. “She isss willing to do anything to protect your little family.”

You shake your head, “I hope it doesn’t come to that. I don’t want anyone getting hurt.”

Elys gives you a hard look. “The world doesss not work like that, Josh. Sssometimes you have to fight to protect the onesss you care about. Maya isss half-dragon, and ssstrong. But she isss only one. I can help, but you mussst do your part asss well.”

You look into her silver eyes, nodding. “A lot has happened in the last month. I will not let someone take away my happiness, or the happiness of my girls. And I include you in that now, Elys. We just met, but if you’re living here, you’re family now.”

She smiles and nods, “Itsss good to hear that from your own mouth. Maya sssaid much the sssame. Thank you, Josh. You’re a good sssoul. I think I will enjoy living here.”

Elys stands, and gently puts her hands on your cheeks. “It doesssn’t hurt that Maya isss deliciousss and hasss a talented tongue.” She kisses your forehead and walks away chuckling. You laugh, watching the sway of her hips as she walks back to her room. Shaking your head, you head off to take that shower.
