Does Cindy explain the truth? Does Carol butt in to try to help? Does Karen even believe her?
A change of plans
“Wait, I’ll explain.” Carol stood between the two. “You see, I’m Carol, and I came from the future where clothes are outlawed for eighteen year olds and older. But my eighteen year old sister Sophie hated being naked, so she traveled back in time while also taking me and our apartment with her. So now we wanted to go to New South Western Saskatchewan, or Las Vegas as it was called to find her.”
“…”
“…”
“…”
“…Say what?”
“Can I speak with you, Karen?” Said Cindy, guiding her to the kitchen.
“Could she really not come up with a better lie.” Whispered Karen in anger.
“It’s not a lie! Well, actually, it might be.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Look, I found her on the street like this, talking about the future and all. I think she might not be, you know, all right up there. So I wanted to give her some clothes and sent her off to Vegas so she could find her sister. Maybe she could clear things up.”
“And how do I know you’re not making this up? That this isn’t some elaborate lie to get me of your back?”
“You could take me on my word, you know?”
“Not enough!” Demanded Karen.
“Fine, than I’ll have another idea…”
“Hey Carol, slight change of plans.” Said Cindy as she walked back into the living room. "We've decided to come with you to Vegas."
"Really? That sounds like fun!"
"Yeah, Karen here really wants to meet Sophie."
"If this Sophie actually exists." Spoke Karen under her breath.
"Great! Then let's go!"
"Carol?"
"Yeah?"
"Clothes?"
"Right, of course."
