A change of plan

While Hauk stood in the street for quite some time, he began to suspect that it might take a while before a suitable woman came along.
At last, he surmised that he would be better of hitting the bars and brothels. While he might just have a few coins worth of gold, he hoped that he would strike lucky before he became completely broke.

Strolling down the streets of Gordor’s pleasure district, Hauk took his time to settle for a place that looked promising, still feeling somewhat baffled by once again finding himself amidst the chaos of a large city.
The place which Hauk finally decided on entering was a large brick house near the centre of the district, with a large sign over its heavy doors declaring its name: “The Black Bandit”

While the name was in no way a milestone in the history of whatever the science of naming things was called (If it was one thing the southerners liked, it was to complicate perfectly trivial things), but the place looked ideal for Hauk’s purposes.
The house in itself looked better than most which Hauk had seen in the pleasure district, implying that its owner had enough money to look after it properly, and there’s plenty of traffic both in and out of the entrance, while two scantily clad young women stood in the street outside and called to passers-by to “enter the Bandit”.

Having made up his mind to enter the establishment, Hauk crossed the street and pressed through the crowd outside the entrance, feeling the humid hotness of the barroom come washing over him as he got past the threshold.

The barroom of the Bandit turned out to be just as Hauk had hoped; two sets of bars providing the patrons with almost every single alcoholic beverage known to man, young men and women working the floor, plenty of gambling going on, and several stages spread out across the room.
