A Turquoise dragon

You had been told by your mother never to leave the mountains during the day; never fly above the peaks and don't trust anything you see around a human settlement. After you left your parents cave and found your own you would break all those rules in one day.

You were searching for a mate. You had made sure that your turquoise scales glistened they looked like gemstones. You had been searching the mountains around your cave for days and were getting ****. What harm could come from flying above the mountains just to get a wider view, just for a second?

You flew higher than you had ever done before and hovered in the thin air above the mountain range getting a good view of your home. There was no movement, no signs of other dragons. Just before you swooped back down you turned and looked out over the forest where you hunted at night. Far in the distance, you saw something you had never seen before. Past the forest was long open areas of grass, divided by thick hedges braking it up into rectangles. In some of the rectangles were large animals bigger than deer with white and black splodges on their hide.

They looked tasty and big enough to feed you for several days. Perhaps if you displayed one of their corpses in your cliff, with some something shiny it would attract a mate. Your mothers warning ringing in your ears you decide "It would just be this one time. now that you knew they were there you could hunt them at night but for now, it would be a shame to waste the altitude. you could cover the distance in half the time and with a quarter of the effort." you swooped down at an angle in a steep dive going faster than you had been before, gliding over the forest. It was then that you saw it.

Past the rectangles of grass was a large collection of human dens all packed tightly together and surrounded by a hedge made of stone. You had seen humans before, they came into the forest and some had built their dens out of logs on the edge. Humans were prey for you. Their bodies were small, weak and very bony but their flesh, however little, was very tasty. However, they had ways of defending themselves making them a risky choice, safer to go with deer. They also mainly stayed in their dens at night coming out in the day so until now you had not seen many. Those foolish enough to wander into your mountains during the day never came out, their bones left in your dung pile. Those who hunted for their own prey in the forest at night only joined their quarry if they got in the way and did not run when you got to it first.

You knew getting this close to lots of humans was risky. They may be below you on the food chain but they were not to be underestimated. However, in this instance, you did not care for close to their settlement was what appeared to be another dragon. Curiosity got the better of you, **** for a mate or even just a friend. You would even take a rival, someone to fight and prove that you were fit and healthy, able to defend yourself and any future offspring you may have. A fight you would get but not a fair one and your naivety would be revealed.

You swooped down but as you got close you began to realise your mistake. This was not a dragon but a trap. It's jaw flue open and outshot a net. It was weighted on the ends and wrapped around your body pining your wings to the side. You had broken all your mother's rules and as you hit the ground hard you were about to pay for it. You later found out that the humans had seen your glistening scales sparkling in from the mountain top. They watched you approached their cattle and had prepared. The humans of this city had made fake dragons that lured in the real ones for capture. They would watch the mountains and wheel them out if they caught a glips of scales.

As you hit the ground you smacked your head and the world went back. You awoke in chains confined to a courtyard in a human den, you would later know as a castle. For days you struggled against the chains until your spirit broke. You would soon find out what your new life would entail.
