Chapter 5 by Zeebop Zeebop

What threat do the Fantastic Four face?

A Tentacle Monster Is Attacking The Fulton St. Fish Market!

The Invisible Woman raced to the Fantasticar. The air was cool on her skin—and there was much more skin exposed than normal. She'd kept the gloves and boots, but her long legs and arms were bare, even her shoulders, and only next-generation nanotube-enhanced materials provided any support for her breasts, which were little more than a pair of pasties and a web of blue and white lace that approximated a mesh tube top. Sue was especially proud of how little material she'd needed to keep her crotch covered, thanks to a quick shave with an invisible razor.

She felt excited as she ran into the garage—and then the male members of the Fantastic Four caught sight of her.

They froze in place.

Ben Grimm's craggy eyes blinked slowly.

"You, uh. Wearin' that outside, Suzy?" he said.

Johnny Storm covered his eyes with both hands. "Sue, please. You can't go out like that. I've flossed with thicker thongs than that!"

Reed was caught in mid-stretch, one elongated leg already planted in the Fantasticar. He goggled at her new uniform—but Sue didn't stop. She pushed right past her husband and hopped into her own seat.

"Yes, this is what I'm wearing. Deal with it," Sue said as she tapped in the activation sequence to her console. "What's the threat? Let's go! Lives are on the line."

Jarred out of their shock at how little Sue wore, the Fantastic Four instinctively took their places. Within moments, the Fantasticar had launched itself into the sky over New York. The wind whipped in Sue's hair, and she grinned madly as they zoomed forward, rollercoaster fast.

"Some form of giant creature is attacking the Fulton St. Fish Market," Reed said. "There's been reports of explosions. Police and emergency services are on their way. The Avengers aren't present in Manhattan, it's up to us."

Mister Fantastic's gaze ripped back and forth between his screen and Sue's compartment. Sue smiled, glad that he noticed her at last. She felt so daring in this new outfit—even if it was a bit chilly.

Within minutes, they had sight of the beast. It was like a gigantic octopus, but its body was lifted into the air but ten stilt-like tentacles, and ten black eyes ringed its crest. As a connoisseur of alien entities, Sue frowned. It didn't look like one of Namor or Mole Man's typical critters. And there was something weird about the way it moved to. Balanced on eight legs, only one or two would lash out at a time. It didn't make any attempt to pick up any of the fleeing humans on the ground, but lashed out at buildings, which exploded at its touch. For all of its apparent mass, there were no cracks on the street where it moved, either.

"There's something odd about this," Reed said. "The Fantasticar's sensor suite are giving contradictory readings. Almost as if it wasn't there."

A tentacle lashed at a building. There was a crash and masonry exploded out onto the people below. Sue threw out her arm and an invisible **** field caught the debris, and held it so that the people could get away safely.

"Ben, you try to find a place to land," Johnny said. "I'll distract it! Flame on!"

With a shout, the Human Torch leaped into the air, and a blazing human shape that left a trail of flame behind it arced toward the beast.

What does the Invisible Woman do?
